Does anybody know how to do a bank transfer from OZ to NZ because it appears they dont have the BSB and A/C number like we do.

you cannot do it electronically

Has to be done at a bank, or send a draft by mail, again purchased at a Bank

Each bank should either have a unique bsb code, swift code, or something to that effect.

He should ring up his bank and confirm what the correct details are before you send the funds.

I don't know what all this BSB talk is about but we just have account numbers xx-xxxx-xxxxxxx-xxx in that format first 2 being the bank, second 4 the branch and the rest are your unique number. If that helps.

Yep in NZ there numbers are possibly over the whole country be just alittle smaller... Bank State Branch numbers wouldn't be required. If all mumbers are used you should have no issues..It may pay to ring bank to make 100% sure.. As some banks DON'T accept money [YES strange as it may seem] I tried to send $$$ to my brother in Sates and even though I rang them and asked, they didn't accept... They could have told me after all I went to the trouble of ringing them in there time zone!!!!Most commercial banks are fine!!!

Isn't the first 6 digits the BSB then?

You need to find out his banking details, account name, account number and bank and branch, each country is different, so dont worry about BSB's etc, just get his numbers from him that he uses over there. Go to your bank, ask to fill out a TT form (Telegraphic Transfer), the teller will then do the exchange rate based on what it is at the time and thats how much you will pay. ie, if you are transferring $100 to NZ from Aus, it might cost you for example AUD$85.00, but the person in NZ will receive NZ$100.00. Usually a TT will cost you about $28 in bank charges. To transfer from your puter at home, you usually need to apply to your bank to have this facility. If its only a one off thing, its really not worth it. Hope this helps.

i think, when i done the last TT, i think i needed the address of the bank i was sending this to. this was to go to New Zealand. Tho the last time i done this was a year ago with the national bank.

You are correct BJR, one of the details required is the Bank address.

Lol, ironically most of their banking industry is owned by our big guys. But yes - as others have said, most netbank facilities are domestic only with special persmission required for OS transfers - the netbank facility then essentially becomes a TT...

Expect most transactions to have a .25% (or therabouts) margin on the forex component...
