Ford Focus 10/2005 speedo calibration.
If I put larger rims and tyres on my focus is there an easy way to reset the speed? If the speed reads 100km but I’m doing 90km can I reset it or is this something the dealer has to do? Dave |

If you get larger rims, I think the speedo would be reading lower than what you're doing. eg. Speedo reads 100... reality 110.
I think the people who can calibrate a speedo are auto-electricians which the dealer might be able to do.

you need to work out the overall wheel and tyre diameter and see how much that is out by, then you work on percentages to see if you even need to bother about it, my 20's with tyres are only 3mm larger in diameter overall

Yes I hear what you are saying. I'm building a new car with RWD and this fantastic Duratec motor. I will run say 18 X 7 or 18 X 8 but I want a say 60 + profile which will be larger in diameter - if they are then I want an accurate speedo. Vic has so many speed cameras.

hm... what gearbox are you using? wouldn't it depend on the speed sensor into the gearbox?

No the speed sensor will be housed on the front wheel. I need to make brackets etc. All the drive to the rear wheels. It is where it is on the focus because it's easy.
Does anyone know what can be done with the current Duratec ECU? Dave Thanks for being so helpful. |
