Default headwork for dev5 cam

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering what I need to ask to be done with the head to whoever does my headwork, so that the dev 5 cam I have from you guys, works to the total out put that it should eg what extent does the head need to be ported ? do i need to port match it ?? etc etc

I have a general idea of what all this stuff means but what specifically do you guys do with the head to make it suit the cam ?

The cost of freight to get the head to NSW could be better spent on getting the work done....

I've been given one suggestion so far so I'll chase these guys up and get a figure on it.

I've seen the work they do on a Dev 5 head and its extensive. Its far from a port and polish, its a complete change to the ports and much more.
Lox, the only way to get a Dev 5 head is to get it from JMM. It has been designed and tested to go with the cam. I dont think there will be anywhere else that will get the same result to be honest. Thats not to say there is no one else capable of doing it, there probably is. I'm just saying that JMM are the only one's who have the Dev5 spec's to go with the cam.

If postage is that cheap....

How much is the head by itself then ?

I might have another look at the JMM site.

Come on guys,

It's not as easy as grind a mill from here and change this to a 45mm radius and all will work.

Everyone who ports heads takes pride in their work, wether it be CNC or hand ported. We develop heads to suit the cams and together they suit the whole package and system of the car. This type of developnment takes years.

Next to that you can get the head done elsewhere hoping that it will increase your power, some cases it will and in some cases ive seen power actually go down.

For the budget conscious, we developed the street fighter head, and the complete price is $950.00 all ported and reco'd, assembled and ready to go. It uses std size valves, but for $150 we can upgrade it to the bigger valves for you for a slightly bigger power increase up top.

As an intermediate head it will increase your torque and peak power dramatically.
Actual power increase always comes down to the engine tune and other parts being used.

Brenden,

Do you have any information regarding the flow specs on your heads?

Regards

Cool. The only reason I'm asking all this is that I don't particularly want to buy another head if I can get my current one done.

Seeing as its a bit of a drive from Sydney to Altona, I figured this would make better financial sense.

If it's trade secret stuff then that's cool I guess.
