Go the BMC - I have one and they make a huge difference (on my V8). Not sure how much they improve outright power, but it definitely helps with throttle rersponse and fuel economy.

As for the SS inductions big mouth - you are far better off doing the "Casper intake mod". Not that Casper was the first to do it, but he put the article up on AUFalcon . com, so I guess he deserves some credit. At most it will cost you $30, and will get more air in than the SS inductions one will.

This is the latest CAI change I have made to my car. It's a BMC Cardon Dynamic Air Box. I doubt it will make much difference to outright power, but it's certainly not as wheezy as it used to be - throttle response is heaps better!

lol, I'm actually credited with a mod? Bwahahahaha.
Actually, it was a joint discovery because JCXR8 and I both did it at the same time without knowing the other person did it.
Considering its doing the logical thing and taking cool air from behind the XR's headlights (they are not sealed to the nosecone so cool air gets through), I dont really think its a huge discovery... just a logical process.

Very modest indeed! Logical processes, with a healthy dose of curiosity are what fuels both discovery and improvement!

Necessity is the mother of all invention, that is why I spent days developing mine

By the way, save your money on the SS Inductions. They are a bucket load of cash for something that makes almost no difference, better ways to get gains for the money. That is not my opinion, that is my experience after having that crap on my car. My new sytem craps all over SS Inductions and would have cost me less in the first place.

Was more a healthy dose of bordom and an even healthier sense of humour at what some of the "off the shelf" CAI setups seemed to cost. Nothing like an XR8 intake, a piece of PVC pipe and a drill to keep you amused and not in debt.

Did it help? Honestly, I dont think it made that much difference....but it didnt hurt either.

Complete rip off, probably cost them $20 to make per unit. It is pretty cheap plastic and very thin. The perspex in mine cost more than their plastic would have cost them but I still put the whole system together for less than $150 (heat shield that is).

From memory my ss inductions was around $500 fitted
add another $130 for the K&N direct replacement filter that comes to around $600-650
My present set up
4" inlet K&N $130
4" Custom fabricated pipe $163
Polish air intake $63
Complete with cost of making my own heatshield $500 and easily out performs the ss inductions by a mile.

i dont think mine made much of a difference either, i think i might have a go at making a full width over the radiator one.

I'd be removing the passenger side high beam light and using that
