This might make me weird, but I don't like it.

Its not something you could just get into and go for a drive. It looks like something fit only to be put on a pedastal or run down a drag strip.

The LHS would be for a trip stateside in the future??
I like the engineering work that has gone into this. It's almost 'art'. The only thing I don't like is the colour and the hood scoop.

i love the hood scoop, it just screams tough and by the looks of it i don't think the engine would fit without it

Awesome looking car! Though why not keep it RHD to show its Aussie even when in America? Surely you can drive RHD cars there as well?

Sorry to Jack the thread, but I am curious though, the trumpets on the engine, i cant find any information on them? Why are they used (do they skip the std intake?) and what benefit do you get from them? Its been a question on my mind for years!

Very common on high performance engines. Single throttle for each cylinder makes for great throttle response. Shortest and most direct path to the cylinder for max perofrmance.

Though in this instance is just as much about how impressive they look

The drag racing look is the only possible answer I can come up with...I know a guy with an LJ Torana that has gone to LHD for that purpose, but it's a full on purpose built drag car.
There's literally no problem driving a RHD car in the states...Australia is probably one of the only countries in the world where the authorities have a massive problem with people driving LHD cars freely on the road, right up to brand new cars. Look at Top Gear for an example...both right and left hand drive cars are in abundance, in fact people go to Europe and buy LHD cars cheaper to bring back to England over the RHD version on sale "at home".

The colour...bleh. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the car is amazingly detailed and worth spending hours just staring at, but in my opinion there's nothing blander than a silver car. I suspect in this case it may be to try and make people subconsiously look past the bland and featureless paint and instead draw thier eye to all the detail work...?

Haven't read the article yet, but after wiping the drool off the monitor screen, are my eyes decieving me or are those a set of those super-rare (and super expensive...the last set I saw for sale some years back had a price of nearly $2000 on them) Autolite carbies, and not fuel injection as I first assumed them to be?

The ram tubes on top are pretty much for show, unfortunately. They do little to settle the air flow into the carb inlet, but do look damn good and give a bit of venturi effect. They used to be real big back in the eighties when fuel injection was starting to show up, with some going to ludicrous lengths with them poking up a foot above the engine...usually at shows they'd have a bright yellow tennis ball in the end of each one. No, I don't know why...but it did stop crap falling down into the throttle body I suppose and being ingested by the engine...
After all, your engine makes more horsepower with an air cleaner than without...

It was built LHD so he could take it over to america to drive in the Hot Rod Power Tour. So dont be mistaken, it will be driven! He won a trip to take it over to the SEMA, and americans love our coupes!

Nice car, but not for me. I am not a fan of cars that are so low you only see a glimpse of the rims. Much prefer a ride height that is low, but still shows at least 90% of the wheels.

is this the thing that was on street machine cover a million years ago that was bare metal ? It is a nice lookin car. suicide doors too. front and rear side markers gone, chrome bumber could do with a lick of paint. looks like a nice pearl paint too. those bonnets with the hood scoop seem to be becoming more popular lately, not that that bonnet is a $300 glass one. Amazing amount of crafting in it. it runs quad webers and 400 ponies. doesnt say at the bags or the flywheel. So, its not a monster engine by any stretch of the imagination,a classy 393 buildup really. also used xb bumpers on it. he had to use those crappy quarter rubbers from rare spares like the rest of us too. lol. the cheap bonnet pin set is weird tho. he had the choice of gt bonnets, custom billet ones, make his own cnc ones etc and he went to supercheap and bought them ??? wonder if all the mods are metal or glasswork ? .Shows what a quadrillion ( yes thats a number) $$ can do.
As for buying street machine........ when i bout it the cars were build time 5 years, cost $10,000. now its build time 6 months, cost $100,000. I feel it has left the "working street machiner" behind. so me no buy. just my own opinion. Someone toss me 100K and I will guarantee my last project "mk1 capri" will make smoty.

re read my post and it must seem like im baggin it, but im not. its bloody nice (not my style). I have built 1 3/4 coupes and am aware of what they take to get right so kudos to the owner, like he will care what I think anyway.
