I've heard that current model holdens have been 'booked' for having them on.

Most probably urban myth... or the owners are too stupid to fight it in court.
If the car meets the ADR then there is no issue.
The state cant overrule the Fed...

ADR76 covers the light specifications for DRL's.

ADR13 covers the installation requirements on vehicles. basically 250mm to 1500mm from the ground, and not less than 600mm distance between lamps. Also they are only to be on whenever the ignition is ON, and the vehicle lighting is OFF. Seen a number of HSV's with the DRL's on when the headlights are also on, that is illegal per ADR13.

Please explain how this applies to the cars that were factory fitted with hand held mobile phones and/or radar detectors.

I'd find that unlikely since, as is my understanding, you can't turn them off.

ADR76 as you pointed out allows for daytime running lights... If fitted at the factory in accordance with the ADR then it meets the requirement.

Volvo have have daytime running lights on its models since what? 1975?
And they have been sold here with the lights connected directly to the ignition legally since then.

Volvo Australia had, in fact, disconnected the DRL's on all models years ago owing the lack of an ADR. When AUS played catch-up and adopted the UNECE rule, they began fitment again.

DRL's, including the regulations later adopted as ECE, then UNECE - were a Scandanavian thing. EU's ECE mandated them for that market not that long ago.

The new LX Mondeo doesn't get the LED DRL's, Zetec does, but no front fogs, Titanium has the DRL and front fogs! Thought Ford would have standardized them through the Mondeo range.

Not that I really care, happy to live without them.

EDIT - Bloody Ipads, had to use computer to fix.

Default Re: Fog Lights in NSW

Hi all

I have seen these fog lights on ebay..

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/7-COLOR-PILOT...item56416be6a4

Now if the glob is white, and if I get white angel eyes are these legal in NSW?
The reflector is blue.

Can't see any conformity markings on the lens, wattage insofar a halogen front fog light is proper, but we can't tell the beam pattern to accurately determine it's real function, that of a front fog light, or a driving lamp.

You are reliant on the advertising.

The blue lens simply gives a whiter light within the beams range, width/reach.

See Narva/Hella et al for dedicated LED or incandescent bulb DRL kits. I'd be more inclined to fit a rear fog, but that's me:-)
