Default Hoon laws for everyone? dont think so

picture this ,,8pm wet friday nite in ballina,,drive down to get some cash out hope back into my car and pull out behind 1 white fully marked SS commordore highway patrol car followed by 1 white fully marked xr6 turbo falcon highway patrol car,,i followed them both through 2 roundabouts then up to a set of red lights and sure enough the falcon pulls up next to the ss,,lights turn green and all hell breaks loose,, the ss was sort of incontrol but the xr6 turbo was fishing tailing and almost collected the gutter.
i flashed my high beam a few times and a couple of seconds later they backed off,,now if that was you or I we would cop a fine loose points and loose our cars
so i get home which is just around the corner and called ballina cop shop and asked about hoon laws and explained what i just witnessed and asked what would come of it, reply, they will be spoken to,,,yeh rite

So the big question is, when you so rudely interupted play, WHO WAS IN FRONT?

Friday must have been a play day for them.
I was driving to work along the SE freeway at Springwood Friday AM, went to pull out into the right lane from middle lane but saw a red FG marked car hurtling up behind and stayed where I was. Two young officers on board easily doing dollar fifty NO LIGHTS, NO SIRENS.
They, and I, are probably lucky I am more observant than some on the road.
One law for all I thought.

I've seen a very young cop use his lights to make an illigal u-turn...to go to Subway.

Its just the way things are, many examples of people abusing their power, like the police bike power standing up the street from Harrys Diner (local car gathering place in Brisbane) yet pulling up a car for chirping his wheels into second.

Of course you're not going to hear back from them, it is all "within the family" so to speak when it comes to discipline.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have seen them run red lights without their lights flashing, make illegal manuvers then pull into food places (as seen above) and a host of other stupidy like stopping someone in the middle of the road, holding up BOTH lanes of traffic.

Isn't it times like those above when you wished you had filmed it :

In all seriousness though I do know of a few police officers that have been caught out playing silly games and being done for it.. the difference is that they get a desk job for a while and the cars are left alone to be driven by the next ones on the list to be driving

It would be funny to see a Highway Patrol car in the impound yard though. EPIC FAIL. hahaha.
I find it hard to fathom why they did it in front of Joe Public. Surely they knew the doo doo they would be in if caught.

Yep, that's the reason why most would go into highway patrol/traffic, to drive fast v8 powered cars. otherwise they'd go be a detective or something else boring lol

Not always. Quite a few of them have no clue about cars, but there are a couple who have lowered personal cars with tint that they would book you with if it was your car.

Member VS Member racing is not uncommon and have seen myself back in 2004, when a BA Divisional van had a "fun race" with a marked VX SS in Albert Park. No chance for the van though.

As others have said, get it on video and keep it until the day you are wrongly accused of something. Remember, we don't have uniform rules here for the public, police and government.

x2, they're better trained drivers for starters. All this crap reminds me of that copper that got sacked for doing a few doughies in a paddock at a show with his lights and sirens on.

shits and giggles aside in the last couple of years we have had more than our far share of young road deaths up here ,eg,4 mates killed while the P plate driver walked away type stuff and the last thing you want is a L or P plater seeing is the cops having some fun and then thinking hey if they can do it so can I,,,it just sends out the wrong message.

I think the bottom line is, and regardless of whether they are trained drivers or car enthusiasts, we all see the news, we see what happens when speed is involved. Police are out to enforce the law to prevent fatalities and injuries, and if you have a couple of them having drag races up the main street, what example do they set for the rest of us, and what should something go wrong? People have been booked for less. As law enforcers, they should follow the law as much as they expect us too. As soon as their is fatality on the road cause by hoons or P Platers, they are on the news talking about the road toll and how high it is. The car enthusiats, P platers or what ever section of the community are suddenly targetted and the next thing you know, theres a thread on ford forums whinging and complainging about singled out by the police.
