Default Fitting Cortina Extractors to mkii eskie

g'day
I have just picked up a set of extractors off a 2lt cortina (td) and am trying to get them in my 2l eskie. problem being is that the steering shaft must be different between the two types of vehicles. So i am wondering is there a mod i can do or is easier just to get the sledgey out and "modify" the extractors about half an inch or so. if you have any suggestions they are gladly received.
thanx

Sell them on and buy the correct set for your Escort. You can pick them up 2nd hand for under $100 and recover that cost buy selling the cortina ones on....I'm actually looking for a set for my Capri, so if you are in melbourne send me a PM.
Taking the sledge hammer to them will only damage the tubes and restrict the flow where you hit it.

In the end have decided to get the oxy set out to heat the pipe and then bend it away from the steering column. at least that way it won't dent or restrict the pipe and can be done in vehicle to get the angle right. and sorry whooligan i am in Qld.
