Ever since Fuso went to the 3L and the dual clutch box they went to ****. We had dozens of them and they all needed new gearboxes at some point, some at only 5k kms. Some even had multiple replacements.
Engines were also garbage, massive blow by, oil consumption, no power.
The previous 4.9 I4 and Aisen auto were awesome, we had no issues with them.

The chassis flex is the whole point of the Gaz, it is what makes it so great offroad.

They need to make a civilian version of the Thales Hawkei ute they make in Bendigo, I wonder if they could get one of these down to the $100,000 mark rather than the circa $750,000 they cost now, they're super nice inside for something used for military purposes.

I got to visit the production line, its absolutely amazing, I reckon there's a market for a civilian version of that thing, take away all the military stuff and the armor and it'll come down in price massively.

Like I said it looks to be more than capable I just think the chassis will be its downfall in the future, if your only going to own one until the warranty runs out then who cares.

Still cant get past that amount of flex, it could be its downfall, Being a cab chassis I cant see all the other components of the vehicle withstanding that amount of twist long term either, I don't know if its a riveted chassis or welded, If welded it will be like when you repeatedly bend a bit of steel it eventually breaks, If riveted it will start pulling the rivets wearing at the holes or even shearing them off, it has to give somewhere and if the chassis can flex that much how about all the components that are out of whack while its twisting.

I suppose if you put that much flex into a Landcruiser, the chassis would be its weak point too, so I would say they sacrificed the chassis for aggressive short term off road drivability, will be interesting to see if it can withstand what Australia can throw at it long term though.

Pretty much 50/50 at our work. For each Cruiser that comes in trashed, there's another that's spotless. Prados are the worst. Nobody looks after those.
Brother in law ( a true "hey look at me type ") owns a 2020 200 series VX that he keeps pristine. Mrs Vekgib and I got invited to his house for Christmas breakfast, so after some discussion at work, I was OK'd to take the 300 series Sahara demo we had for the Christmas weekend. Look on his face was a Christmas gift in itself.

The knocking noise was from everyone unable to afford the LandCruiser.

(I can update on the young one's Disco1 V8 purchase. It has actually been reliable, sounds glorious, there's been mud antics, and it was 5% of the price of the Cruiser. I'm pleasantly surprised.)
