Default im getting a new emgine any help is good

hey

im planning to buy a new engine soon.
any help on wots a good engine to put in au series 2.
im doing the engine change my self any tips or things i should look for would be helpful.

Well, a dart block is good.
But i guess you're asking with a budget in mind, and in that sense, unless you've got something unique, if it's got a dead donk, just scrap it and buy another AU for whatever they're going for these days. A few hundred bucks?

AU engines are dirt cheap, so go with the lowest km engine you can find. Ideally you'd like to hear it run before committing to one which isn't always possible.

i have sussed out city dismantlers for a reconditioned engine. $2495 and 850 to install is it worth it?

also looking at second hand engines aswell. but seriously dont know wot to do.
my engine is good its got an oil leak low part of engine. (its been there for a while) and its done 250'000 kilometres.

Go a guaranteed low km second hand motor imo, better value.

So you are thinking of paying $3445 for a reco engine when your problem might be a $20 gasket? The AU engines will quite happily keep going way past 350,000klms

no way i'd be spending $3k+ on a $2k 'on a good day' car
i mean check out what stu paid for that 75th anniv
AU's are pocketchange cars now.

are you seriously getting a new motor cos it's done 250k and has a leak?
my motor has done 742k and has had a timing cover seal leak for at least the last 9 years.

you know what i do? drive the bstrd. cos thats what you do with AU's.

ive decided to fix the leak. keep the engine i got. and keep going till engine cant no more
