From capri parts manual
- - - 7005/6 - - CASE ASSY. - GEARBOX 69/ All1600 cc 1 2824E 7005 C 70/ GT 1 69EG 7006 AA so it might be a Cortina box - how about 1972 Cortina TC - used same motors. |

A thread from the dim distant past (sorry to drag this up as my first post!) but would this type of box be a four or a 5 speed?

Old stuff like that is all 4 speed. Also an easy way to tell between Capri and escort gearboxes is Capri boxes have a cast alloy cover and escort boxes have a pressed cover, correct me if im wrong.

Thanks, it's a cast cover, and oddly, exactly the same number as the one in the original post, which struck me as strange, and how I found this post, just by searching the number.
