Default No injector pulse Help

Hi everyone i've gone to fire up the v8 in my au for the first time today and it would crank but not start. I've checked the following
Leads have spark
I have power at injectors when ignition is on
Fuel rail has pressure
Motor kicks over and will run when i spray fuel into intake

My tests tell me that for some reason the ecu is not switching the grounds to the injectors. Since i have sprak that would rule out faulty CKP (Crank) and CMP (Cam) sensors correct ?? I'm thinking the ecu i have maybe a dud thought i'd get your thoughts

Cheers

Did you have the ECU Recoded or have Smartshield / Smartlock disabled?

Smartshield has been disabled with QH. If it was immobilised i didn't think i'd have spark or cranking

have you made sure that all the pins have been cleaned properly on the ECU? Also did you check to see that it has the two small links / resistors on the PCB?

I checked the pins on the ECU before i installed it they all seemed pretty clean. When i opened up the ECU to install the QH chip it was quite dusty inside... I'm not sure about the two links/resistors that your talking about whats the PCB ??

Those links on the PCB enable the edge connector to accept the QH electrically.

Thanks Stu i looked at mine this morning and can confirm that my ECU has the 2 resistors shown in the link above. This morning i also checked and recleaned the contacts on the J3 port also checked the earth wire the bolts on the ecu it was a little loose so i tightend it. But still no injector pulse...

Also I was talking to a few of the guys from work they think i could be a CKP or CMP problem but to me this doesn't seem possiable cause i have spark. Does the ECU only determine the coil firing from the CMP or does it also use the CKP ??

Also Big Thanks for all the tips/help so far

Yep, As Stu Says,

Those Links enable the J3 Port to talk to the onboard databus, but as you said the Series 2 ECUs should already have them connected.

Lorenz, what ECU are you running. I am sure that you have transplanted a V8 one in. What happens if you take the QH off? The stock ECU should fire the injectors (even if poorly). Probably will not prove much, but at least it will isolate the QH as being the source of the problem.

Next step, would be to see if you the ECU is generating the earth pulse at the pins. If you can in fact measure, as the pulse will be pretty damn quick (milli seconds). Here is the injector ECU pin numbers.

Hope that helps - good luck.

Stu

I would also check that you have 12V at the injectors, the ECU might actually be triggering the injectors but there might not be a B+ Signal to energise the injectors.

ah yep, cheers stu.

i am connected to his PC, loaded a different stock calibration and the immobiliser light is staying lit on his dash.

There might be an issue with his BEM, possible blown fuse as it doesn't seem to be responding to the enable signal.

We are now going to try your suggestion with no QH on the ECU to see what happens.

Will keep you updated.

Okay,

Disconnected the ECU,
Removed QH
Reconnected ECU

Hand Stays on the dash.

Reconnected Original ECU and the car hand goes away.

OP is going to come over to my house tomorrow so i can inspect and test his ECU in BITSY, otherwise I have a S1 ECU i can whip up for him to get his car running.

Nath, what happens to the hand on the dash when you re-connect the QH and disable smartshield (or smartlock whichever it has)? Does the hand go away?

Of course the hand is going to be there with the new ECU and old BEM without the QH. I did not think of that with my last advice.

Hand Doesn't change.

The hand will flash flash when the key cannot be determined and there is a smart-shield issue. Just tried this on my car, by turning QH to the Factory Tune.

Lorenz is going to bring his ECU tomorrow and ill test it in my car as well to confirm my suspicions.

Well, Lorenz came over this morning.

I Setup one of my spare ECUs for him, popped in his QH and loaded a base map just to see if the car will start.

Tested it in Bitsy and she fired to life.

Lorenz now has a car that starts and but it won't idle. So i have put him onto Matt 5.0 ED to get it all correct for him.
