As many of you are aware Bundaberg has been recently devastated by flooding in the Burnett River. Thousands of people lost their homes and there are still hundreds in makeshift accommodation in the showgrounds.
Bundaberg has been known to make the odd drinky so Bundaberg Distillers are holding a fund raising event on Saturday 16th March to assist the victims. http://www.news-mail.com.au/news/bun...forts/1763091/ Quote:
I can not think of a better way to show them the error of their ways than to have an overwhelming number of Ford vehicles turn up there from all directions to show the flag, help the victims and maybe have a rum or two. AFF has many members to the north, south and west of Bundy so why not show the world that Ford enthusiasts aren't all that bad after all. |

I am a little bit disappointed that no one seems to be interested in helping the people of Bundy after the ordeal they have been through let alone visiting Bundy Rum with a heap of Fords to point out the mistake they made sponsoring Holden.
Bundaberg is about 4hrs north of Brisbane, 3 from SC, 5 from GC, 2 from Gladstone, 3 from Rockvegas. Come on guys, do your bit and buy some cheap rum. You never know we might get on the news and a feelgood car enthusiast story would not be a bad thing. |

Our daughter and her husband were very very lucky...they live in north Bundy and the water came up to within a whisker of going into their old low-set house. She lost everything in the downstairs area, the freezer, and all her craft and sewing equipment (her small business) but they aren't complaining...down the road from them are some houses subsided into enormous holes and the poor buggers that live there aren't even allowed to go back inside to try and recover personal items as the houses are unsafe.
Gillard generously said she would donate a million bucks to the Queensland flood appeal...a million dollars...when they give nearly five BILLION in overseas aid every year. People in Bundy weren't happy when she visited briefly. Everyone should buy some rum...I'm buying some, and I don't even drink! |

When I saw the thread title (and who started it) I thought, AHA! Flappy has found a hangover cure !
Anyway is there a web site so us Southerners can get some by mail order? I'm not a Rum drinker but it would be a neat conversation piece though.

Not sure if I can make it on the 16th but I'm currently planning out a trip up for this weekend to check out the "extreme zone" with some of the old hockey boys.

I've been here in Bundy for the last three weeks, it's like the aftermath of a war zone in places and the continuing bad weather is not helping at all.....
One thing i will stress though is.....if anyone is just going to use the 16th as just an excuse for a cruise without shelling out a bit of dosh or offering some other way of helping the recovery of Bundy, then stay home, the last thing this place needs more rubber necker’s..... Otherwise, all the assistance anyone can give will be greatly appreciated....

The thoughts of our household have been with Bundy as we used to have property there and spent time there years ago. From faraway NSW, and from what we remember of the area, it looked unimaginable. We still make a point of buying the rum and the sugar and hope that does something for local jobs anyway. There in thought if not actually in person, unfortunately.

However everything has recovered well since....All bridges are repaired...Roads need a bit of work in the low lying areas, but it's always been that way for the last 30 years....So not a real big deal My misses has rellies in Bundy....They lost everything except their house....So they have set about rebuilding their lives as best they can being in their 60's..... I have already offered my support to those relatives, which good relatives do anyway....

Well those who want a bottle of recovery rum but cannot attend could email the receipt of where they donated $200 to the Bundy recovery along with their postal address and a one might magically appear in the mail
