Default Help removing gearbox extension housing seal

Has anyone had experience removing and replacing the gearbox extension housing seal. The Ford Repair Manual suggests using a special tool...I don't have one and most likely will never see one.
There must be another way...any suggestions??

I've included the repair manual extract below.

might seem like the butchers way of doing it but we hooked a circlip tool in under the lip of it and got it out that way... werent too concerned about the seal as we had another one already

Yeah that method crossed my mind. By circlip tool do you mean circlip pliers?
I'm not worried about destroying the seal as Im replacing it, just don't want to damage the seat.

Well i managed to get it out with a blunt screwdriver and a hammer! Bought a new one and slipped it in only to find it leaks even more. It's one of those with the rubber outside from repco. It slides in with barely no resistance which is not a good sign.
The frustration never seems to end!!

Sorry is this the oil seal surrounding the prop shaft? If so had the same problem with my RS, PM me as I bought one for $6.50 and fits like a dream. I could help you out with details of the supplier, fits like a glove with no leaks. I'm also in Adelaide.
