Default Clutch return spring on ST170

Hi all,
We have an ST170 which has just on 30,000 k's on it.
I do not drive it much, but my SO does. She complained that the clutch pedal was a bit low. I got in and had a drive, and found it very low. Had to pull it back up with my left foot.
I checked the usual bits, fluid OK. Leaks around the res, and leaks over the firewall etc and nothing.
I then found the clutch return spring hiding behind the carpet. One of the hooks had fatigued and this forced it to drop off. It had not broken in the hook area, but just after the spring wind.
Question is, has anyone else had this problem.
Of the cars I have driven, this is the only one it has happened on, or heard of it happening on.
