gday guys im on the hunt for a tc Cortina to build into a v8 street car (most likely with a 351 Windsor if I can with engineering) , I live in Victoria so not to sure about the rules with engineering yet but ide like to know what to look out for when buying a tc for a v8 conversion, ive heard you want one with the recessed fire wall not the flat fire wall, does it matter to buy a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder what is easier ? any info would be great cheers

I think just finding a TC Cortina worth buying these days will be your biggest challenge!?
I came "this close" to buying a TC with a Windsor back in the day.. but after a test drive Dad thought it may not be the best car for an 18yo.. so I bought a 351 xc ute instead. and also the TC kind of had "backyard conversion" written all over it..

need upgraded brakes, springs, reinforcing on the chassis just behind front wheels, reinforcing for gearbox,, then you gotta get a custom exhaust and thats gotta be tested to certain db levels, amongst other things.... its a lot harder hear in perth but my cortina has been licenced with its conversion in nsw for 17 years and now i've brought it here i have to get the exhaust redone as its apparently too loud. If you could find one already engineered and registered it would be a lot better and save some money, other wise the rod shop sells kits with the engine mounts and re inforcing brackets etc for 450$
