Default Mondeo XR5 wheels on LV Focus?

Hey guys, I'm looking into 18" wheels for my LV Focus, as I lowered it with the eibach pro-kit springs on Friday and yesterday I smashed off the wheel sensor wires on a speed hump, as the car is too low, so I'd like to lift it up a bit with some new wheels.

I'm looking at the 18" Mondeo XR5 wheels, will they fit on my Focus with the lowering? Or are they too wide and wrong offset?

Thanks much.

The mondeo wheels should fit the focus, as im pretty sure there the same dimentions as the focus XR5 wheels

The ony problems I can think of is that the wheels whont raise the car because the hight of the sidewall is smaller on the 18's so it should have the same overall diameter as a smaller focus wheel.
Why dont you try getting some tryes with a higher sidewall on the current rims, which should do what your after.
One thing that you may have to look at it changing the overall diameter of the wheels will make your speedo inaccurate unless you get it re-calibrated

Oh ok, damn. I've got 205/55/R16 on the car at the moment, I'm hoping to go to 235/40/R18 with the new Mondeo wheels, but if it ends up the same I'll just have to be really careful in where I drive now.

That looks fantastic by the way.

My calculations say that the car will be raised by about 7mm with the Mondeo wheels you quote.

Damo, have you done a search for a tyre size calculator?

As yellow festiva said, there will be a 7mm difference, which also means that you're speedo will be thrown out by a couple of km/h.

Also, with the car sitting so low, did you check that European parts sent you the right springs? Eibach have different spring rates for different Focus models, depending on engine type. For the 2.0L duratec, as well as the 2.0L TDCi, the correct part number should be: E10-35-016-02-22

Those wheels look really good on that focus, suit it nicely

With 18s and 40 profile tyres I'm pretty sure there was a >1% difference in overall speed on the speedo and it was lower, did the calculations when I was looking at wheels last year.

This is the calculator I've found to be pretty good: http://www.inawise.com/tyre-calculat...alculator.html

The radius of the tyre will change, according to it's width.

"40 profile" refers to aspect ratio, which is a percentage of the tyre's width.

So a 225/40/18 will have a different ratio / sidewall height to a 235/40/18, which is what Damo is referring to.

To keep your Speedo + rolling diameter close as possible to stock, I`d recommend 225/40/18. But if you wanted to 'raise' the car a little go the 235/40/18.

225/40/18 are a hell of a lot more expensive than 235/40/18 it seems, I think the rims already have 225s on them. I'm finding out what year now.

Too right they are, 225 is a lot more expensive but I think that is because they are more rare than the 235s.

Let me know how you go with spring model number.

They're E10-35-016-02-22 for the springs. The wheels are for a 2009 Mondeo.

Larger diameter wheels will get your speedo readings out.

With speedo reading, bigger wheel I guess means it reads high, so I don't really mind.

no, larger diameter wheels will read lower than the real speed

i.e. your speedo will say you're traveling 50km/h but you are in fact going quicker than that

Good idea i think. They would look pretty sweet. Not a fan of the MB's. I could be biased but the MA ones are a nice wheel. Anyway, post some pics, keen to see how they look on your car.

Well the guy never showed up on Friday, said he couldn't get a car down to get the wheels to me, and then supposed to show up at 1pm today, messaged him, no reply, he didn't send me anything.

I guess if a deal is too good to be true it probably is, lol.

Tossing up between new better tyres for the 16s or do I still proceed with bigger wheels?
