Default Rugby League legend Steve Rodgers found dead

Just heard this on the morning news, sad to hear. He was also the father of former league now Rugby union player, Mat Rodgers.

He's certainly had it rough hasn't he. His Dad was so young too - only 51. It certainly hits close to home when they're younger than your own parents or even yourself.

I have been a Cronulla supporter forever.

I just heard on the news here in Brisbane and am shocked and devastated. I have many scrap books of Steve and even followed him when he went to St George. Have collected a lot of memorabilia over the years and had the biggest crush on him from the time I was about 10 until he was out of the limelight. Even went to watch some of the bears at Burleigh heads because he coached them.

One of the best and fairest rugby league players ever.

Yeah! Very sad. Always been a Roosters fan, but Jeez he was a good bloody player for the Sharks and Australia.

They're putting it down to a heart attack. They said they tried to revive him but to no avail. They think he may have been gone a few hours already. Very sad.

Unfortunately it seems from news tonight and matt's speech...that Steve took his own life...due to many issues which left him very depressed...RIP Steve peace at last.

I hope that this will bring to light that depression is an illness and that anyone can suffer and people need to be able to talk openly about depression. Let's hope that Steve being high profile will help bring this to light and help others suffering to ask for help. It can be cured sometimes and is always treatable.

Long live the legend of Steve Rogers - my hero always
