Default TDCi oil

I've got an '08 TDCi and do most of my k's on short trips to work etc so I'm thinking of throwing in an oil and filter change between trips to ford for 15k service intervals.

What I'm really asking is what is the best oil for the TDCi when used mostly for trips of 15 minutes or less?

Cheers

I use Castrol Edge but mine does not have a DPF because it is the early LT model diesel.

The answer is in 2008 in the LT model they introduced the DPF. (Mine is a 2007 build but 2008 MY) You can check using the oil makers lube charts and you will see they specify a low sulfur oil for the 2008 on models but not for the 2007 diesels.

Parts catalogue states the date change as 08/07 or 10/07 Aus compliance date.

I would be cautious about believing that since mine is Oct 2007 build and Nov 07 compliance plate and has no DPF

Its all up the **** apparently because according to the TDCUK forums, if you look up your VIN on Ford ETIS:

http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegS...1EF04.fcvas504

If it says Euro IV it won't have a DPF, if it says Euro IV + DPF then it will.

They also have inlet manifold differences, non DPF car has a single big pipe going into the inlet manifold, DPF car has an inverted Y with two smaller pipes going to it.

Unless Australia's MK2 Focus' are different from the ones they have in Europe.
