Default Auto box removal/installation on MK11 esky 2.0L

Hi,

Just after a bit of advice, my bro-in-law has a mk11 2l auto escort, starter motor occassionally won't engage, we start it by turning the engine over by the fan belt (barley moves but enough) then starter will engage ok, I'm removing the starter on friday night to check the teeth on it, but if I find the flywheel is rooted, obviously gonna be a much bigger job.

I'm ok with removing gearbox, done a few manuals in my time on my own on my old Fiat, and an XY too. I'd like to know if theres any tricks to reinstalling the box, does the torque converter bolt up to the flywheel? Then input shaft slide into the torque converter? more to it than that?

Also anything I should know about replacing flywheel? how does it match up? On my XY (Cleveland), the bolt holes would only match up one way, will this be similar? and how tight? We have a torque wrench, just need numbers.

Appreciate the help.
Dennis

take starter motor out, then turn crank till you can see flywheel/torque converter bolts. i think there's only 4.
the converter stays on the input shaft.
flywheel/ring gear is held on by 6? bolts.

honestly, if you can, take the motor/gearbox out as one, as some of the bolts on the bellhousing are a pain in the a.. to get too.

first of all though, take starter out and get that checked/ reco'd.

ps, do you think you could take a pic of the throttle linkages, cable and kickdown cable brackets?
