Default Ford Colours....Wow.

Geez I'm bored ..This'll prove it .

Was looking for a particular info sheet for an old car today and looked up colour codes just for Ford and this is what I found ...

https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.a...or_company_A-L

and
https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.a...or_company_M-Z....

Stuff me... I didn't know there were that bloody many Ford Motor Company have used in the past and still needed to be sought. No wonder the term paint matching is not that easy at times when doing resto's ..

Whew ... Any stand out favourites you really like that are listed anywhere here . Apologies if a similar thread involving historic colours that has been started in the past which I didn't look too far back for given there are so many hundreds of previous or exhausted threads on AFF ... Cheers .

I think there was a thread but photobucket probably ruined it anyway.

Colours are interesting as the body shape makes a big difference to what works with it. Hence why there are no good colours on XF's.

B series wins hands down for modern stuff, but a Wild Plum XA GT sedan does it for me.

BTW AU's had lots of deep and metallic colours which I have noticed over the past 10 years have also been popular. Dark metallic reds and brown for example.

There was also a Yellow called Frenzy (sure someone can confirm that).
Was a very nice yellow think on BA mk2s.

Am guessing the Envi Mica they talk of is the green on the BA's. was another nice colour.

Wonder how many other colours members know of that not listed.

They did rapid of course & acid rush, but Frenzy was like the blue aero as in very rare, saw it on ba mk2 gt if remember was few years ago now i saw it.

Surprised it was not more popular was like a fluro yellow (no not toxic).

Had a rapid yellow ba mk2 xr6 was very nice.

Beautiful colour the Chalet Blue. I don't think it was available for all that long. I noticed that XY 'Spring Frost' (green) wasn't on the list either.

Well I learnt that Fantasy was the only fancy colour Ford did, there were a few cars painted in Obsession which are quite striking.

But there still would've been new (unsold) AUs in dealerships in 2003.

The original SX Territory also came in Envi, along with some other strong colours (much like the BA) such as Zest (lime green) and Indiana (brownish red pearl)

Later models were dominatnted by the white, grey, black, silver just like everything else on the market. Boring.

Whats that light blue colour that BA/BF/FG came in? I've seen a couple of XR6T's in that colour and they look absolutely mint.

That was FG only. One of my favs.

Not 100% on this but i suspect it’s the same as Nitrous Blue on the last Focus RS? Even the names are similar.

Its this real light blue colour, it looks absolutely mint.

Mystique was a green / blue. Fordomatics previous FG XR6T was Mystique. Top colour when detailed to the nth degree.

Only on XR models as well.
Not on any FPV due to paint matching issues after rolling off the production line before going over to the FPV factory.

This was the exact car & colour that made me fall in love with falcons.

I desperately wanted one when they first came out but ended up buying an XR6T in Silhouette at the auctions instead.

I've actually never bought a car in my first choice colour. I wanted an emerald green (can't remember the official colour) KH laser for my first car. Went to the auctions & there were 2 of those & 2 red ones. I ended up with one of the red ones (because both of the emerald green ones were 1.8 litres that exceeded my budget on the day).

I wanted a velocity blue BA XR6 Falcon & bought an XR6T in Silhoutte instead. Being a turbo & considerably cheaper at auction it seemed like much better value.

Then after 12 years of driving a black falcon, I wanted a white one & ended up buying one in petroleum (which looks very similar to the black one I previously owned).

When I eventually move onto a mustang, one of my goals will be to buy it in whatever my first choice colour is at the time. I'd like to think I could do that on what will be my fourth attempt.

Blood Orange was another great colour from the BA Falcon days. There was an XR8 in that colour at the auctions when I bought my XR6T. It certainly stood out!

This one is my current favourite, Teal glow only seen on XY and XA's

I'm using it as highlights on my bus resto.
This was my first attempt to paint it, but It crazed on me because I didn't let the 2k underneath cure properly.

Otherwise Monza Red has always been a favourite.

Cheers,
