Default door open light

Hi all.
I have a 2002 focus, and the door open light is aluminated on the dash when the car is running.
Does not light up when the car is not running and you just open the doors tho.
Is this common, ,and an easy fix.
Cheers in advance for any replies.

not sure about your model but many fords have a small switch in the door lock which tells the car whether the door is shut. These can fail or get dirty contacts and give false readings usually by not allowing remote door locking. Easiest way to see if that is problem is squirt WD40 or such like up into the door lock open and close a few times to see if that fixes it.

Cheers. .Will try that.
When we picked the car up. ..There was heaps of spray grease in the door framings, and on the doors.
Apon detailing the car i cleaned them out with general purpose cleaner. ..Armor all.
Since posting this thread. .I went through the service history of the car. .I saw that its not the first time that this car has had this problem crop up.
I read earlier on the net that wd could do the trick. .
