The insurance is medical insurance, so if you have a crash and the other person required a 6 month stay in hospital, thats what its for, Im pretty sure you cant get medical elsewhere and Ive never heard of anyone saying I dont wnat it and them cancelling it. CTP stands for compulsory third party.

CTP - Compulsory Third Party. Completely different to your insurance.

Comrade Anna strikes again.

The 6 months rego was supposed to be exactly half of the 12 months rego to help out the battlers.

Now she has added a $16 fee as yet another stab in the back for the dumb schmucks who voted her in.

Bligh must go.....

You guys have just caught up to NSW for your rego costs.
At least you still can get your number plates cheap and not have to keep paying ongoing fees..............

and if you don't pay on or before the due date a $50 fee for late payment reinstatement fee i think it is, this can be up to around a month after rego due date but after you pay your $512 plus $50 late payment fee your 6 months rego starts from the due date. but since you can't drive without paying your rego up to date you have lost a months rego and paid $50 for them to do nothing different than they would have if you paid on time. and i wonder what would happen if you drove after the due date and were picked up for an unreg vehicle. then went in and paid it and it was back dated the way they do it, what would happen then?

Firstly, I am not a fan of AB, but how long have some people here been paying rego if they think that paying more for 6 months has been a brainstorm of the present government?
I don't defend it but the higher cost is a (cynical) way of reducing admin costs to process CTP, road tax etc etc, twice a year as opposed to the single lower 12 mth payment. End of the day, regardless of the actual amount of rego, it's a budgetable expense of driving.. if you can't afford to pay it (on time, or for 6 or 12 months) you can't afford to drive.

So what ever happening to the GST replacing all other taxes? Some how we have all been screwed - We all voted in Johnny to put the GST in so we only have ourselves to blame

No just the present party in power.......

I know how to reduce admin costs. Remove incompetent people from the public service.

Not likely to happen though is it?

GST is a federal tax. Rego is state gov controlled.

Not to be bagging you specifically but you would have to be very naive to believe that the GST was going to replace all other taxes.

If you removed all the incompetent people from the public service, there would be about 6 people running the country.

Somebody had to say it.
