I'm after some opinions , I'm undecided !

G'day everyone , i was thinking of putting some small oval shaped extra driving lights on my car ( mount them in the pods in the front bar/spoiler ), i wouldn't mind a bit more light when driving of a night , especially pointing onto the actual road a bit more .. problem is , im 50/50 on weather i would like the look of them on the AUII XR though , has anyone got any pics of the AUII XR with the small driving lights in the pods ? .. cheers ..

Small driving lights mounted that low wouldnt do a whole lot would they? Thought it would be more for looks down there, much like mine.

I wouldn't do it to mine, the high beams pretty much turn night into day as it is on the XR's.

Before going ahead I'd recommend getting your headlights adjusted correctly first.

Well i popped down to k-mart, scored it lucky , i got the last box of the small oval Monza H3 55w driving lights, was marked to clear too because the plastic wrapping was missing and a bit of the box damaged lightlly , but open checked it all out and everything is ok and all the parts there , the wiring /fuse/relay etc etc ... got it for $20 ! , i couldn't refuse for that much. I just installed them about 10 mins ago and i must say they look nice , im happy with them , now i just gotta connect them - will leave it until tomorrow or the weekend i think .

Sounds like the same ones that redxr8bloke got for his xr8. About the only thing that is out there that will suit the size / cut out of the pods.

Here's some crappy pics , excuse the quality as my camera is crap , i need a new 1 , give you an idea though , allthough the pics don't do the full justice , the tadd reflection almost makes the 1 light look a little crooked , allthough it isn't ;) .
Oh - you can also sorta see how that turtlewax color cure with the chipstick worked too in these pics..

lazy ! - yeah you got that right ! ..lmao - but i have fitted them - i just haven't wired them yet , i don't wanna stick a hole in my dash for the extra switch or use the crappy extra switch they supply , i'm just gonna wire them up in conjunction with the standard driving/parker lights so they come on with the normal driving lights switch .

By the way , it only took like 10 minutes to mount them/the brackets & lights ... which wasn't too too much time - i managed to put down my can of bourbon & coke until i was finished !

yeah each light has 2 globes in it , allthough it doesnt say on the packaging that the xtra globe in each driving light is a parker , but i presume it is ..

The 1's i got are ...

They looks good. How about chucking in a really bright light in the indicator asembly (on the AU XR front bar) so you get a really wide beam... for like roos and stuff!

Thanks ,yeah the more i look at them on my car the more thay are growing on me , i think they will stay .

As far as that comment about a really bright light in the indicators , i nearlly laughed at first , then i though about what you said and if i am understanding you correctly i think you meant like mount an Extra globe inside the indicator so u have like a side beam to ligh up the side of the road ? - good idea in theory - especially for those who have roo's in their area ! ( not me ! ..lol ) , but i 'think' that a extra white globe inside the indicator lense wouldn't do much prolly except melt the lense ( i think the indicators are 22w if i remember corectlly ) thus the housing for the indicatour would probably only withstand aound that wattage before heat became a problem , + the inside reflector and the lense on the indicator isn't realy designed for a beam to be projected out of it , they are a frosted lense , unlike a clear driving lense . good idea though ..

When I do eventually get around to fitting mine, I will be mounting them behind the nose cone to keep in line the way the h/lights & d/lights are mounted. The only downside to this is that I will have to drop the nose cone to do this.

Well i got around to wiring them up , i have an extra switch hidden in the fuse compartment in the cabin incase if i want to switch them off while i have my parkers or headlights on ( unlikelly though , is why i hid the switch away - didnt want to go ruining the dash to mount a cheap lookin switch ! ) - so as it is the switch in the fuse compartment remains on , and then i just use the normal parker/headlight switch to turn them on and off autimatically with my other lights .

Just went out and drenched myself in the rain to get a few pics for you all with them turned on .

I like them , allthough i wouldnt mind changing the globes to whiter globes at a later stage , they look a bit yellow compared to the headlights in the pics , allthough the camera did exagerate it , they look pretty much the same color as the headlights in person ... heres some pics anyway .

Mate that looks awesome. I was thinking about doing this myself, but the legalities over here made my head spin so never went with it...wish I had of now grrrrrrrr might have to do somemore homework on this lol

Thanks mate , nice comments appreciated ;), they have defianatelly grown on me , got to test them out tonight - awesome ! - I dunno where your living and the legalities of them , but they are actually diving lights , not spot lights or fog lights , they are only 55w , states that do usually ban you from hooking them up to the parking lights & headlights still allow to to hook them up but run them off jsut an independant switch ;) - being driving lights , they arent no brighter than normal headlights so it makes me wonder why they would be illegal where you are .

Well i got to test them out lastnight , went into the casino in the city to get blind ( i got the missus to drive ! ;) ) , and oh my i must say they are great , turns night into day , much easier to see potholes etc in the road too of a night , so it looks like they stay - besides the look of them has grown on me , imo i really think they suit the front of the AUII now i have them on there ..lol

I'm in NZ mate, that's probably where I got lost, the definition between, Spots, Fogs & Driving lights.
