Default Nespresso Maker

I picked up a Nespresso maker at Christmas and I know some people think the idea of the makers is that it's a waste of money and effort, but I'm really loving the option of being able to make a different coffee each time. Out of the 16 main blends, I so far have only found one I don't really like. At between 68 cents and 78 cents a capsule, I don't think the price is too bad. Considering my morning coffee at work I pay $3.80, this works out quite a bit cheaper. I know it's more expensive than coffee like Nescafé, but with the Nespresso maker your not limited to the same coffee for next 100 - 200 cups. I think this is what appeals more to me.

Anyone else have one of these machine's. For the record, I picked up the base model (Essenza EN90) with free milk frother. Cash back offer sees the unit costing $188. It came with a sample pack which includes one each of the 16 flavours.

Had ours for about 4 months. Very easy to use and clean after, the only coffee not used is the decaff, which is still sitting there. Ordered new capsules a couple of times, no hassles at all.

Any thing that isnt industrialroast gets my vote

I have a conventional espresso machine in my shed (my wife hates the smell) and I love it, from what I understand nespresso is simply a convenient twist on it with the coffee coming in single serve capsules, I recommend this would smell less giving me the option of good coffee in the house

Ristretto is great. Had an order delivered today.

Capsules are easy. No mess, quick clean up as said.

I have found on eBay some blanks. So you can make your own blends as well. I prefer just to order from their site.

Steve and I got one for ourselves for Christmas, Steve wasn't so convinced it was a good idea but seems to have warmed to it now...

Just did our first order with Nespresso, a little annoyed that if I want to go into a store I have to go to the city, but...I guess those are the breaks.

Awesome coffee and saves me $3.50 a day on bought cappucino's...win win.

Arpeggio is a winner for me.

Got one for Christmas too, did an emergency dash to Westfield Doncaster to the Nespresso shop to stock up on Ristretto, Vivalto lungo & Fortissio Lungo.

Only problem I have is you either have to place an online order and wait or the inconvenience of driving miles to buy new pods.

We find using the Lungo capsules gives sufficient quantity. We also put the mug after adding the milk/froth, into the microwave for 10 seconds on high, just long enough before the froth starts rising from the heat, to make a warmer coffee.

+1 here too....although the one we had packed it in after about 3 years of use...I havent opened it up yet but if it needs fixing I bet it will cost about the same as to buy a new one.

Just changing the flavour without the fuss of beans or grinds is very good.

Had one here for just over 12 months, love it!

Not sure if all machines work the same, But I have the citiz+milk.

If you want a hotter and slightly stronger flavoured coffee give this a try -

insert capsule and press your cup size
listen closely for a metallic ping that indicates the capsule has popped.
press the button again to stop the pour (a little will come out)
wait 2-3 seconds and press the pour button again
It will pour very slow (maybe half speed), but the coffee is hotter and more intense.

I'll second that, i work at aldi an we have one in the staff room. Its turned me into a coffee drinker, and you can make a perfect latte with the frother. Its turned me into a coffee drinker, my favorites is the one rated 10 and the orange one if a short black

I got the $79.00 Aldi one for Xmas ...... am so bloody impressed for the price!

Have had the Nespresso one at work but too damn expensive. Taste the same as the expensive ones but at around $6.00 for 16 capsules and very readily available ..... I am on coffee overload! They have a new hot chocolate available which must try.

I got one last month from the mrs and I LOVE IT.

It takes less than 2 minutes to make a coffee, there's no mess and you can mix up the different flavours.

Sure it's cheaper to grind your own beans, and fresh ground coffee tastes a bit nicer...the but it's a pretty damn good solution for those with limited time and like variety.

I much prefer my Nespresso coffees over the ground coffees I was paying $4 for at the work Cafe.

I have the Philips Senseo Coffee Maker. Pods are made by Moccona..I like the Dark Roast..Mild Roast is ok. $3 for 20 pods at Sara Lee Shop or $7 at Coles or Woolies!!! I have had it for 3 years and it still brewing..The Aldi Coffee maker also interests me, I assume the pods will always be available ???

Nespresso is a great machine but u will find that with a automatic machine and buying a bag of beans, is cheaper in the long run....

Average price of a bag of bean including milk costs you average 0.50 cents a cup where the Nespresso is 0.68 cents plus milk...

So what's the go, does it still smell like normal espresso?

I love the smell but if any one lives with a non coffee drinker will know they can ***** and whine to the point where a good coffee just isn't enjoyable, if these jiggers solve that problem it will mean I don't need to escape to the shed (or the cafe as some freinds know it) for coffee all the time.

At 37 cents a cup the Aldi one is very good value. The pods should always be available as the are from K-Fee which is an established brand and the amoun of machines they have sold is massive through Aldi

It does not fill the room with the coffee smell anywhere near like the regular bean machines. I have had the other machines but they are too messy and take too long to make a quick coffee in the morning. These take less than a minute with no mess and no clean up. Taste I believe is comparable

i love the idea of a pod machine. i just wished they standardised the pod format. that way any brand of coffee could release in pods. you would probably get more people buying the machines if they did that.

my mate has a nespresso machine, personally i cant really tell the diff between a nespresso and a home made regular ground coffee machine.

my old man has the saeco lavazzo machine, makes a pretty good coffee. the thing i like about the lavazzo over the nespresso is that you can buy the lavazzo pods in the shops, rather than having to order online or find a specialist nespresso store.

We also got a Nespresso machine out of the cash my missus got for Xmas. I'm having one right now (the dark green fungo one). Great coffee, easy to make, and so much better than the manual machine we had that we hardly used. Manual machine was on-sold to my sister's boyfriend, so overall cost was reduced a bit. We got the 530ES (not top of line, about middle). The 16 pod sample pack lasted about 3 days! Ordered a pack of 50 capsules (30 decaf for the missus) last week, and they arrived yesterday - no option to go "in-store" in Canberra; there's no pod retailer here (not a big enough town, apparently).

I love the coffee smell in the room after it's done a coffee... It does not last long thou...

With a automatic machine your not locked into the same flavors and the best I've had so far is Toby's estate and Campos.

Spot on Auslandau - being a long time grinding machine addict I don't miss the lingering smell at the expense of less cleaning up - just put the nostrils close to minute made exspresso and breath even better @ $80 + pills I mean refills
