How long has this been in development? Seems like forever. Not that I'm comparing them, but Hyundai has managed to get its turbo Veloster out already, way less than a year after starting work on it.

All I can say is the ST ought to be a bloody good car when it comes out.

That being said the veloster has been reviewed as a pretty bland car to drive, compared to the new focus. Only downside with the ST will be the price we have to pay for it, going to take a guess at $40k starting price, the Toyota 86 starts from 29k, and the GT starts at 35k.

Theres a review in the July edition of UK Top Gear, not a bad read either. Not sure when the mag will arrive in OZ, but id say it will appear in OZ Top Gear too at some point.
It involves an ST being driven from one side of the US to another, using only B roads.
The PDF is too big to upload by the looks.

Also the US look to be getting their own spec level, i thought they were getting ST1 still a pretty pov spec though.

It will have to be a good car for me to offload my XR5T, i love it to bits it has loads of character which will be somewhat lost without the I5T. But the new car is looking bloody good.

IMO its a good idea for all the reasons outlined in the article, IIRC FoA were the only division to change the name of the ST, so now it brings us inline with the rest of the world.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/180578/f...cus-st-review/

Here’s a good yardstick for measuring how good the all-new 2012 Ford Focus ST really is: It made the all-new, 487kW 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, driven on the very same day, seem bland by comparison.

EcoBoost 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol number, cranks out 188kW and 366Nm, more than decent figures for a front-wheel-drive sport hatch. This powerplant benefits from direct fuel injection, low-inertia turbocharging and twin independent variable camshaft timing to create a surprisingly wide torque band; peak torque rolls in at around 2000rpm and stays there until about 4500 rpm.

Nice cut and paste , i read most of the reviews on the new ST already. Comparing to a GT500 is pointless IMO

This will be very tempting in 12 mths time.

If you compare the spec level compared to current ST i can understand the price lift.
