Default Guages in a Mk2

Hey Guys,

Just making a new dash fascia for my mk2 and am looking at getting a water temp, oil pressure and voltemeter.

voltemeter is straighforward, however, would i need to buy electric or mechanical guages for my '78 mk2??? do all brands hook up? is there any advice a fellow guage installer could supply!

No not all gauges hook up the escort gauges are earthed to move
IE low/no resistance from the sender = high reading ( fuel, water)
High resistance = low reading , ( cold, no fuel) VDO are the same, however some others work opposite
