Default forum truth

are we really that bad, do we all sound like the old geeks who used CB radios in the 70's ???

How many subscribers to an online message board does it take to change a light bulb?

I saw this on another forum (credit Telisia and Shane) meant to make you smile

How many subscribers to an online message board does it take to change a light bulb?

Answers:

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...

another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

2 to post reasons why the light bulb burning out is the result of a government conspiracy.

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

43 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs"

1 lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

5 to say "thank you"

How many times did ya turn it on and off before it blew? I'm averaging 567 on/off sequences for each bulb except the ones in the kitchen which is only 257!!
What are you people averaging?

Was it still under warranty? Did the dealer look after you and was it within normal parameters? You should have chosen a GEC globe cos thats what I buy so they must be better.

A few things:

* Does the bulb require servicing at regular intervals?
* Does it add or benefit to performance?
* Is there a Herrod Version Available, and if so why does it cost so much?
* Is it covered by Ford warranty?

Here it is.. the light bulb changing tutorial...

The position of the light switch...

And the problem...

Now turn off the light switch. And (in my case) remove the light cover. Mine just pulls off.

With cover off.

Now if its a bayonet style bulb, then you have to push in and turn. And the bulb will be removed. Screw in bulbs just unscrew.

Now we see the source of the problem.

And as they say in all good manuals.. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Daniel...

For those interested it was a 100W bulb. I do have a spare but its only a 75W pearl so I have to invest in a new one. I don't believe in going lower than OEM when it comes to light bulbs.

: Any one know how I can remove the glass cover to reattach a small metal piece that has come off a long thin metal post? I think I can fix it if I can only remove the glass... : .

I heard Osram are putting out a recall for some globes.

Not that it matters to me, i've bought a xenon globe, the same ones they fit on aircraft, specs below.

Specifications:
Candle Power 540,000
Amps 14 Volt 2.5 Amps
Amps 28 Volt 1.25 Amps
Watts 35

Once ive got this baby zip tied into the kitchen, ill no longer need the oven, or the sun.

Question though, they are FAA approved, will this effect my rental agreement?
