Any chance of getting spell check fitted to the forum? The incorrect spelling in threads drives me nuts!

The google toolbar is the best bet.
Last time we looked into a forum spell checker it looked to be way too heavy on the resources so the idea was canned.

I have an idea? LEARN how to spell? :evil_laug :

Too many people rely on SPELL checks. I went to school and they taught us how to spell, write letters and also use GRAMMAR.

I do agree that too many threads have atrocious spelling and so many grammatical mistakes.

Some of the words that are misused and misspelled are:
govamint = Government
satade = Saturday
ashfelt =Asphalt
wensde = Wednesday
there for Their and
their for There?

I am sure there are many more but these examples stick out always. :

Another common error:

You are = you're. Yet I have seen many people use 'your' as the abbreviation which is incorrect.

I usually have MS Word open so if I want to check my post, I just create a new blank document, copy my text across, and look for wavy red lines before copying back again.

The other way to spot your mistakes is to re-read your message after posting. The errors are much more obvious then... _

Those with bad spelling may also be the ones don't give a toss anyway.

Or people could just install and use IEspell (for Internet Explorer users) or SpellBound (for Mozilla based browsers. Both are easy to find with google, easy to install and use, and don't slow your computer or cause any trouble.

there is another forum, where when I pointed out there was a spelling error in one of their rules, I was told there wasn't (they had used your instead of you're), as yet the rule hasn't been corrected.

Schaz the spelling nazi

also saw a new way of spelling 'there' on the board, spelt 'dere'.

I don't think a spelling checker would help anyway, people are obviously too lazy to learn or use proper grammer.

hehe...I think a lot of it has to do with sms/text messaging...so people are now writing on the internet in the same manner. I know I do it, and secondly, I guess people just think...this is a much more relaxed enviroNment...so they shorthand everything

EDIT: A big thank you to JADED6 for pointing out the typo...hehe. I'm glad thats the only one i made.

Actually, the personal pronoun 'I' should be upper case - error count is now two. :

grammer check, should have spaces placed after every full stop and have a capital letter as well. So the error count now stands at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!!!

Funny! Firstly, as long as we are pointing out errors in posts, you should have started your sentence with a capital letter. Secondly, the last time I checked it was "grammar" not "grammer".

I agree. I think the real issue here is the SMS style posts. Some people should just make more of an effort.

My pet hate at the moment is Bluehoon using the word "being" instead of "been".

I also hate people saying "for free" instead of "free".
