The clips show a pulsating orb descend and hover above the Dome of the Rock, an ancient Islamic shrine, before shooting up into the night sky.

Unusually, there are clips showing the orb from different viewpoints, meaning it has been more difficult than most to dismiss.

The footage was allegedly taken in Jerusalem on Saturday morning and has spread like wildfire on the web.

It has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people and prompted fierce debate among UFO enthusiasts and sceptics.

Former Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope told The Sun: "If these are real, they are some of the most incredible videos ever shot.
"If they are not, then this is a very well-planned and co-ordinated hoax designed to eliminate elements of doubt."

Mr Pope said the way the object shot up suggested it was unmanned: "We know the Israeli army has some very high-tech drones at its disposal.

"If this is one, it is one of the most advanced pieces of technology created by man."

Don't buy it.

Would have expected many sightings of this, not a couple of guys with a handycam.

Agreed with Mr Pope that if it is indeed real, it would have to be unmanned.

Here's a video supposedly of the same event, different video camera, different people. The poster of this video edited his own UFO's in different colors to illustrate how the effect can be done. I wonder if someone made up a video like this and others decided to jump on the bandwagon?

thats the thing. with so much trickery available to us , the only real way to believe it , is to be there and see it . i am very interested in this topic , but the sky is the same everynight to me , nothing unusual , and we can see a lot of the sky from anywhere on the ground .
heres hoping that with all this technological trickery , that soon we will be able to make the misses look like a different woman every night . and they us .

Why do UFO's seem to use Phillips blue vision globes everywhere? Why do they use very standard light shapes/colours/beams? If they have incredible technology to get here why is their light technology so primitive like ours?

What i don't get is why they would want to come to some backward world like ours???? Sort of like a canoe trip in the Ozarks if you ask me, just asking for trouble.

I have doubts.

Given the vast distances and the logistics of travelling those distances, I find it unlikely we'll be visited by intelligent life before we end up offing each other.

For instance, Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 - it's only recently passed the reach of the solar wind from our own sun, and that's the farthest probe we've launched and it's travelling upwards of 60,000kph. If it was on a trajectory to the nearest star, it would take tens, if not hundreds of thousands of years to reach it.
