Default What is your premium on your AU?

OK remembered to update the policy today and was a little shocked at what I am know paying for the AU.

Mods are bugger all:

cat back
17' rims
tints
LPG (SVI, but apparently that didn't matter)

And thats it, garaged, and my rating isn't bad, one small claim in the last 10 years of driving.

So as of next month its up to $860 full comp, both drivers are over 25 aswell. This is with Shannons.

What are you guys paying? It seems a tad high, my postcode is 3429.

Try CGU, go to their site and do a quote. I did quotes for every possible insurance company lately, and was surprised at how much better they were, considering it was a name i wouldn't have even considered had i not found it on google. They do very little advertising but the rates were great. Nice policy inclusions too. They give a fair discount for over 25's also.

Cheapest i found were:

1) CGU
2) AAMI

Sure it depends on your post code but give it a try, the quote is free so why not?

Well I just got off the phone with aami and it came in at $780...thats a start. Although their p/m option is more expensive than shannons with same policy, even though they are cheaper; must add premium on top for p/m.

Proff, ill give that link a go now, if anyone knows it would be you with your turn over rate..LOL

i looked through alot, just seems as in these times, no one will insure an under 25 (especially under 20) for less than $1500 just policy i guess and they kno they can get away with it.
But im thinking of transfering car name into parents anyway so i can bundle and get like 1/2 price

Paid my CTP today.. rang everyone too. (well all 7 insurers that offer CTP)

CTP (in my dads name with me as a nominated driver) $676

Currently comprehensive insured for agreed value $8700 thru NRMA - $1400 in my old mans name, no mods covered (the bodykit/steeringwheel/wheels etc considered factory options) but ive got to tell them when i renew about my latest contribution to the state government due to a heavy foot.

$3400 quote from NRMA was in my name

got a quote from shannons for $1400 (incl. all mods like BA brakes, suspension, tint, stereo and all the other crap), but then i need to change rego to name blah blah and pay stamp duty etc. too hard. and was all too dear when i got the car at 17.

btw, im 22, and will be 23 when i renew my comprehensive insurance

With some companies if you're young the premium drops considerably if the car is in your parents name and you're just a nominated driver.

mines $600 though RACV with half the mods (Mags, lowered, Exhaust and cd player) market value, no previous accidents, im 22, standard excess ($550) 10% discount (house insurance with them) im going to add the misses, shes 21, had 2 previous accidents in the last 3 years (one at fault one not) which will put it up to $670, ill also get another %5 off next year for being with them for 5 years.

also take not that alot of insurers are the same thing eg. super cheap auto insurance and australia post insurance are both "representatives of" A&G Insurance Services Pty Ltd.

Cheers Cam

You actually have those modifications listed with your insurer?

I queried about the addition of an amp & sub and was told that they do not need to be notified of such an addition??

Mine is $63.91/Month - I took the pay by the month option with AAMI.

I'm 29 years old, and that's fully comprehensive with an agreed value on the last policy renewal (March) of something like $10k.

Mods are cat back exhaust, T3 bodykit, stereo system.

I've claimed a few times since I've had the car (3 and a bit years), I think its 2 at fault accidents and about 4 not at fault.
