That is what the recommended retail as far as my Dealer has been told, but I picked mine up in Sept so I,m still trying to get it for free. The dealer is contacting Ford, but there is no way I,m paying that sort of money.

my car is a march 12 build and may 12 compliance and first registered in july 12 and as i said in an earlier post i complained to the dealer within the first few weeks, probably at the first service. my complaint at the time was that it was unbelievable that my address and the surrounding streets did not exist in the map and that since the streets i was talking about were more than 12 years old it was unacceptable especially when the aussie built fords have it in there maps or many years. Also i would challenge ford about that build date as we have checked the 2 st's at my dealer and they Oct 12 build and they have ver 3 maps in them not ver4 so after 28 aug build is bull(at least up here it is)

mrmavx

ps wombat tell them that you insist on a formal complaint thru them not with the dealer. after all that is what they are there for.

$1025 is just plain criminal. We will check with our dealer tomorrow. If that is what they tell us we might write a few emails to some motoring journalists to get Ford some publicity

That is really great news as I also have written proof of my complaint just after I picked it up, so now they have set a precedent, and better be fair and reasonable to all of us.

By the way the price was sent to me by the Ford Service Manager here in Brisbane who is trying to deal with Ford on my behalf, so I do believ the price is correct.

Where is the compliance plate in these cars? My car delivered to me 31/1/13 has Version 3.0.

Mine has a compliance place of Oct 2012. It came with Version 3 of the GPS maps

Strangely the compliance plate only has the VIN and OCT 2012 on it, no other information.

$1,025 + GST? That must be a joke.

I thought my last Lexus at $330 for a DVD update was expensive but that is ridiculous.

Eastlink in Melbourne is shown on the maps so it must be at least 2008. Looks like the maps are just patchy. Some areas are up to date and some aren't. Which make them OK to use most of the time but you can never completely trust them.

Eastlink was shown on my tomtom for a year or more before it opened. The fact that the GPS refers to it as "Scoresby Freeway" seems to indicate the map data is quite old. There is a road near me that has been there since the 40s that has the wrong alignment. This was fixed in Tomtom's whereis data a couple of years ago.

But yeah, it's pretty poor in parts.

Talking to one of the Sales guys up here today, he suggested $500 for a new SD card with the updated maps. But he couldn't confirm it. I asked if we could add our own SD card with maps, but apparently we would have to go through Ford. :(

I use the Tomtom app on my iPhone & while it isn't flawless it's much better than any factory sat nav I've come across. Why anybody would want to pay all this money for map updates is completely beyond me.

I also use the HD traffic feature which seems to keep me out of any traffic.

I remember when I purchaced my Focus, I said it must come with the Sat-Nav update. The petrol Focus optioned with the SEP wasn't around until the five inch screen and Sat-Nav came online. But it all seriousness, I could happily live without it and won't ever bother with in-car Sat-Nav again. With the audio streaming feature, streaming Siri or TomTom from my iPhone makes much more sense. And it doesn't cost me each time they update the maps. Win win IMO.
