Default Private WSID day, Sunday January 30

The V8Owners forum would like to extend a warm welcome to all members of this new and astonishingly fast growing forum. (Great work Guys)

We have a private track Day booked a WSID on Sunday January 30.

We would like to welcome all interested Fordforums members to be our guests.

99% of the vehicles are everyday drivers with a few bolt-ons. A few are very quick. It should prove to be a fun day for all.

We have finally sorted out most of the issues and I wish to confirm the day will be going ahead.

WSID have restructured their private day arrangements:
• Minimum 40 cars, maximum 50 cars
• 2 Support crew per car
• 3 spectators per car
• Spectator area WILL be available
• Gates open 7:30am
• 2 scrutineers this time
• Racing from 10am
• Racing stops 4pm
This is a private event, only named drivers, crew and spectators will be admitted to WSID.

We have been able to secure Jan 30 at the old price of $150 per car. However going forward WSID will be charging $200 per car for private track days. We need a minimum of 40 cars, I am aiming for about 45 entrants, such that when the odd person drops out we still have the minimum of 40. You might remember with 30 cars last time the track was somewhat under-utilised, so I dont see 45 as an issue. This is not a competition event as such (no eliminations etc) however all timing systems and safety people will be on hand.

I have 33 names tentatively booked thus far, so I have about 15+ free spots available. This is a great opportunity for newbies to try out drag racing without the crowds etc, and there will be people on hand to show you the ropes.

Cars quicker than 10.99 will require ANDRA license/certification as per usual WSID requirements.

I am asking for deposits of $75, with final payment prior to the 30th.

To confirm your place, please email the following details to events@v8owners.com.au
• Driver forum name
• Driver real (full) name
• Phone number
• Car make, model
• Number of Crew
• Number of Spectators
You will receive an email with account details etc.

It's sure to be a great day, we sold out pretty quick last time so please get in quick!

Please if you have any enquiries post in this thread or email me v8owner@v8owners.com.au

Regards,

Peter

Unfortunatley you cant hire a helmet at WSID.

Please don't forget to bring ALL of the following;

Rego papers.
If the car is not registered in your name a letter from the owner giving you permission to race
Drivers licence
Long Pants
Long sleeved shirt
Helmet
Closed shoes
Socks

Its a good idea to come with 1/4 tank of fuel (it is heavy)

I will have tyre guage etc.. to borrow if needed.

You can download an entry form here.

Cheers

Peter

Ozzyjim : You'll love it. The last event they organised was my first time too. Had a ball.

Sadly this time a double booking with a mates engagement has caused me to bail outta this one...

the list has been updated

we have about 35 cars, room for a few more..

dont forget WSID will not be operating next wednesday the 26th (Australia Day). And as you know Animal (aka Ken) has arranged for the Lions club to serve up morning tea (egg & bacon roll / coffee, ect) and lunch!! (steak/sausage sandwiches & cold drinks). We will need to get final crew and spectator numbers from each of you early next week.

There is still time to get in for the 30th, so email events@v8owners.com.au if interested!!

I want to recap how WSID are charging us for the day (it's a bit confusing).

The last private day we paid a flat $4400 track fee, for up to 30 cars.

However WSID have changed their fee structure this year; they want to now charge $200 per car, for 40 to 50 cars.

As you know we are getting January 30 at the old price of $150 per car, as we pre-booked last year. And we can have 30 - 50 cars for this day. This minimum/maximum system is better as it was too hard to get exactly 30 cars last time, people can and will drop out last minute. Also a lot of people missed out last time, and the track was under-utilised somewhat. At the moment we have around 40 drivers signed up and just about everyone has paid (thanks guys!).

Yesterday I paid $2200 to WSID (reciept here) and I will have to pay the balance just before the 30th, depending on how many we end up with. Of course your $150 goes directly to WSID for the track hire and I will post the final receipt when paid next week.

I will post an update with details for the day later next week.

Hi Guys

Only a couple of days until our WSID track day!

PLEASE READ THIS AS IT HAS IMPORTANT INFO FOR THE DAY

If you have not already done so, please send me the following now:

* Car registration number
* Full names of all crew (maximum 2)
* Full names of all spectators (maximum 3)

If you are not sure, send them again.

Payments

Most of you have paid, I appreciate the effort. A number of people did not put their names as reference. I will be calling you tomorrow to track these down. A few people will be paying on the day as they are last minute entries.

Drivers and Cars

If you are racing, please bring an ASA approved HELMET, REGO PAPERS and valid drivers license!! If the car is not registered in the drivers name, you need a signed letter granting the driver permission to race @ WSID for January 30. No exceptions. Please bring long pants and long sleeve top and shoes if racing, and make yourself aware of these track rules: http://www.wsid.com.au/default.asp?C...7&ParentID=165

Expect track perparation and regulations as per a regular STREET MEETING. If you car runs quicker than 11.99 you need an ANDRA license; if you car runs quicker than 10.99 you need ANDRA certification involving a cage etc.

Your photo will be taken inside WSID, if this is an issue, tape over your rego plate.

Crew & Spectators

All crew and spectators must be on the list. There will be an area made available for spectators. Only signed up crew will be allowed onto the racing surface/start line. Please do not litter or make a mess inside WSID. Drivers please make your guests aware of this.

Rain policy

If WSID deem it a wash out on the day, I will post a message @ 7:00am on the 30th via this forum. We can apparently postpone or refund the day. If it rains DURING RACING, WSID will provide a pro-rata refund less setup costs. If the day progresses beyond 1pm and it rains, the WSID policy is no refund unfortunately. Their fixed costs work this way. If this concerns you I understand, please let me know if you want to drop out, I have a lot of reserves in waiting.

Refreshments

Ken-bloody-legend-Selby has organised the Lions club to put on a morning tea and lunch BBQ. Now the thing is we cannot be seen to be taking money for food inside WSID, it violates the WSID catering contracts or something. Instead we'll have a Lions Club donation box nearby. When you take a drink, please make a gold coin donation, ditto for morning tea and lunch; might I suggest $5 for morning tea or lunch but whatever you can give is appreciated I am sure; Ken you might want to elaborate on the Lions club cause for this event. Alternatively bring you own refreshments, however be aware there are no shops around.

OPEN FLAME BBQ's, ALCOHOL AND GLASS BOTTLES ARE NOT PERMITTED INSIDE WSID.

Day format

As mentioned this is just like a regular street meeting, with less cars and no great crowds. There will be no official competition really, although normal timing systems and time slips will be issued as per street meetings. Gates will open 7:30am, racing from 10am - 4pm with a short break for lunch. If you have any questions, please call me on 0408-327-007. Remember I need your rego number and names of all drivers and crew asap. If you have a problem with any of the WSID rules and regulations per above please dont hesitate to call and discuss, otherwise I will assume you are fine with it.

thanks guys and see you on Sunday!
