the other day took a trip to albury and there was hardly any traffic so i thought ill give the au a boot when i hit 180 the car cut out wouldnt past 180,could it be my diff ratio ?

All AU's are speed limited to 180Kmh. Its a not a nanny its to save the extra long tailshaft from excessive speed which DOES cause it to break with possible fatal consequences. Some XR's and some police pursuit not general duities vehicles excepted most falcons had the limiter removed.

Doing 180 on the Hume (or any public road outside of the NT) is stupid and dangerous.
