AU. Good luck with your Super, Mate. I live in Townsville. Just got back from shopping. There is no Toilet paper or tissues at all on the shelves. People are panic buying anything they think will not be available in the near future. I spoke to the lady on the checkout, she said she has never seen this panic buying before. If the Government doesn't get a grip on this we will see things get worse. The share market is undergoing a massive sellout of just about all sectors of the market. All we can do is ride this Virus out in a civilised manner not carrying on like a bunch of Pork chops. JMO.

Current market panic feels overblown. This is a short-term shock.

Asian countries show social distancing (assisted by seasonality in CVs) works.

Headlines will worsen as mass testing begins.

Take it seriously for yourself.

Don’t panic trade.

The next 2 months going to get bad in Australia as we hit winter flu season.

Australia will have to go into some sort of lockdown at the end of the month so the hospital are not flooded with the sick.

We can't stop nearly most people getting the virus as no vaccine for at least a year only delay it.

Going to be a tough time for the doctors and nurses.

I keep a very keen eye on these things. And these things are going to get very much worse - anyone thinking otherwise is not paying attention. Stocks and shares are based on panic at their very core, on public perception and social media information in recent years. The ASX has lost over 500 billion in recent trade and is still going down. The NYSE has had it's worst trade since 1987. People are going underground and the effects will be far reaching. Companies were already going bust late last year and early this year before this virus became a real thing. You will see a lot more companies filing insolvency, shutting doors in the coming weeks and months. Travel agents, cruise liners, airlines, airports potentially, deficits will became gigantic and this is just the beginning. We may see banks and financial institutions go down. It doesn't take much. We were planning an investment property but there's no chance now in the current climate.

Feel free to come back and quote this post in six months!

We had a deposit down for an IP 3 weeks ago... cancelled this week. Crazy to commit to a mortgage now.

I saw the 2020 recession depression coming late last year, so moved all my super from shares to cash guaranteed.

At my age and a few years away from retirement, I'd rather see my portfolio not grow as long as I don't lose my invested capital.

I learnt my lesson during the last Australian recession of 1990, when I had most of my super invested in shares.

I lost most of my super and it has taken me the last 30 years to build it back up again.... I'm too old to start over again and wait for it to bounce back again in the usual economic 7 year cycles, so once bitten twice shy as they say.

Folks... Things are going to get ugly and very very quickly.

Had some bad news today...

My youngest daughter is a store manager at a Flight Centre branch.

Just heard on the news the shock announcement that Fight Centre is permanently closing 100 stores, and her store is affected with the travel downturn at the moment.

Its time for everyone to seriously look at their super and financial situation.

Sydney Easter show cancelled. Hundreds of stores closed this week. Thousands by the end of the month??

Flu shot not available till late March, or late April depending on your supplier.

Tens of thousands of staff laid off, that $750 will get them through less than a week.

Mortgages set to default, property prices dive due to mass sales of defaulted property.

Super hammered, any gains made in the last year's lost in the last weeks.

More people for the government to support with money they don't have.

I think they need to defer all mortgage repayments for the next 3 months.

If the loan is medium to long term it won't make an iota of difference now but it will give people some breathing space and allow money to be spent elsewhere.

If this doesn't make the world see what China is capable of nothing else will.

They need to remove the corrupt, secretive communist government that caused this and put in a democratic alternative.

While they are at it get bloody HK and Taiwan out of their hands.

The key here is trying to decipher which ones will rebound and which ones won’t.
A lot of businesses will not recover as they live and die quarter by quarter.

I read a post the other day by an American woman who is living in Italy with her husband and kids. It paints a very ugly picture. She is begging everyone to take this serious as it is not just the elderly who are dying.

Cannot find a straight answer to this question anywhere, so what better place to ask than a car forum.

If you get infected with COVID-19, and recover, can you get infected again? Say, for example, like chicken pox, once you've had it, you can't get infected again?

Apparently you can............

"Ms Honey's symptoms eventually disappeared and she returned a negative result, but she recently tested positive again.

That is consistent with reports from China and Japan of patients being discharged and then testing positive for the second time.

This could mean the virus is biphasic, where the virus lurks around undetected before recurring."

Well, now the blame game and slinging match has started on a global scale.

Apparently China is now saying there is no proof that it started there.

https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world...cid=spartanntp

I dread going to sleep because I don't want to hear what the radio will say on the news tomorrow....

Several very public figures have now been diagnosed with Coronavirus.

I work in the middle of the CBD and have to deal with hundreds of people each shift.

When will I be next? Tomorrow? Next week?

Yep,

I have been a close watcher of how this has unfolded and referenced him in the other thread about Hyundai shutting down.

Telstra have now ordered all of their office staff to work from home as of Monday. That equates to 20,000 employees.

Apparently Australia's biggest ever virtual office experiment.

From that article..

"I feel fine. I've had no fevers, no coughs, no nasal problems, no aches, no pains. Nothing," he said.

It is no surprise to professor of global biosecurity at the University of New South Wales Raina MacIntyre who said asymptomatic transmission was making COVID-19 hard to control.

"This is the major difference with SARS," she said.
"SARS was only infectious when people had symptoms, so you could identify someone who was infectious because they had symptoms."

WT?? All information out on this is telling people to watch for symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, etc), but here we have someone who was infected but had NONE of the symptoms whatsoever, and wasn't aware??
