Default Wsid 12/4/06

Headed out to WSID last night with Lowride260 and Hot460 for a bit of fun. Was pleased to meet XR8Ute for the first time. PhantomXR8 was also there but not racing this week.
The temp ranged from about 25 early on to about 20 at the end of the night.

Wade spent all night cranking out his 12.9's with his big launches. Man those slicks sound good when they bite into the tarmac.

Rich was pleased with his first pass in the BF XR8 auto, bog stock, and then spent the rest of the night a bit pi$$ed that he didn't get a 13. I think 14.001 and 100 mph was his best from his new work ute. Well done Rich. Take your tools out of the car next time mate!

XR8Ute got a couple of new PB's but not sure of the details.

I was pleased with my runs, two low 13.2's and four 13.1's with a new PB of 13.109. The mph readings in the right hand lane were reading about 2-3 mph down compared to the right lane so I am not too worried about the indicated 104.99 mph.
My ute was pretty consistent and felt strong. Got sideways once on the 1-2 change and just spun it up on the change to 2nd on another run with the M/T ET streets. It hasn't done it that bad before. I still got a lot of work to do on my 60'.

There was a BA Fairmont there with a boss 260 in it. I have seen him there before doing high 13's but last night he was on the bottle. 125 HP shot was running mid 12's at around 115 mph (I think) with 2.2 60'.
He was hitting the button after the launch, (until he gets decent tyres for his next outing.) He was over the moon with his results.

If I have any details wrong I am sure I will be corrected by those concerned LoL.

Thumbs up

Yeh Chris, you have some work to do on that 60'. I saw the 1st to 2nd change, a wiggly good time. Drop that 60' and your downing one of those elite 12 second cans. Maybe a tyre change, Wade style, will see you get there!

It was nice to finally get out to WSID in some reasonably good air.

Was really cool to meet you guys last night, there was certainly no missing the Bluepower utes. And 14.007 from a stock BF XR8 Auto was seriously impressive.

I was pretty happy with my runs, a couple of low 14.2's and a couple of 14.1's. My best run was my last, a 14.153 @ 98.68 with a 2.134 60' (PB before last night 14.291 @ 97.47 with a 2.155 60').

I'd love to know how i might go with a bigger converter, a tune, and some slicks. Just need top save some cash.

Good to see you again Dave and well done on your PB mate also well done chris on your PB mate some good air you should see a 12 mate.

Did a little suspension change for last night didnt help drop my 60's but seem to be the most consistant I ever been best run 12.96@106.66 1.816 60' (best mph) to worst of 13.03 anyway nothing broke so thats a good thing.

And Rich so close mate to a 13 next time or should say next time a 10

Yeh that 260 on the bottle was impressive once he got a decent launch :

Well done fella's, Wade rang me yesterday and told me you's were all heading out. I was going to come out but i got called back into work at 5.3o for anoher few hours so i couldn't get out there.

We need to oraginse a day and get everyone out there at once, that way when i go for a big launch with slicks like wade it'll make light work pushing it off the strip lol. Craig i heard you had a small drama the week before, who'd you use to get the car fixed. Was that cammed & Blown GT out again................

Wade, very consistant with those 12.9's! Gotta love the way you deck that thing off the line and hear the tyres chirp

Yeh Leigh, had a small drama with the CV joint giving way with only a 3000rpm launch, more torque, past abuse and old age caught up with it. The good news was that the whole drama only cost $425.00. The local wreckers just acquired a XR6T, they delivered the whole axle for $250.00, onya Macarthur Parts Plus of Smeaton Grange. My mobile mechanic Chris installed it for a steal, maybe more for you, they're a ИИИИИ to put in.

But I must say, Wade I cant remember the last time I have heard someone rip through the gears like that. (scant disreguard for your car dude) LOL. : :

He bought the engine/transmission????? second hand and did it all himself. He is a mechanic by trade. I can't remember what he did regarding the computer/tuning (if anything) as it was a couple of months ago that he told me and I'm getting old.
We gave him the forums address so maybe he will come on sometime and give us all a run down.

Good report Chris, getting closer to that 12, keep chipping away its falling all the time.
I wouldn't be to worried about mph either, we are seeing sometimes
2 to 7 mph difference between Heathcote and Calder, the ET is king.
Chris are using a Hi Stall, if so what size is it.
Good work all who had a crack and keep flying the blue flag.

Craig...I will keep an eye out for him and ask him the question. He will be going back out when he gets some decent rubber.

Mark... The convertor is 2800 or 3000rpm (not exactly sure). My best 60' is 2.01
and on Wed night were mostly 2.04. I know I can do better with practise and the right technique.
It's a bit disheartening when racing Wade with his 1.8 60's, he gets 1/2 to 1 car length in the blink of eye and thats where it stays. Apart from the launch our timeslip incrementals are pretty much the same.
Raced Wade twice on Wed and lost both. (Boohoohoo, wipes tears from eyes.)
First time he beat me by .305 and had .237 at 60'.
Second time he beat me by .145 and had .154 lead at the 60'.
So I am happy the way the car is going, I just have to somehow get rid of the cr@p launches of mine.
I don't really want to go a bigger stall as it would be pretty bad around town.
Might have to flick off the M/T ET's and steelies which are bl00dy heavy compared to Wade's setup, or even compared to the stockies.
The other four races were against SS Commondoors and V8 Toranas and I beat them all. (Cheering, with dry eyes at last.)

Chris, have you tried different launch techniques ??
I have tried every way with mine, hard on the brakes, and foot flat on the accelerator.
Bringing the revs up to about 1500, then "flash stalling it" by just kicking it in the guts.
And also, idling then kicking in the guts.
I have had the best results by flash stalling it !!!
