That's rather ironic, MACK building a large plastic truck.

You finish by dropping it and ending up with a million small pieces

Had to buy some more shelving yesty from bunnos.
I want the titanic to stau somewhat dust free once its finished. So not sure what my plan is yet as i intended to put it where the 2 volvos are, but its too tall! But i have time to sort it as its going to take a while for me to build it.
Currently up to bag 9, long way to go! Apologies for the rubbish pics.

Theres some pretty sweet details in it. Boilers for example, clear orange blocks for flame, and a blue block above it for steam, staircase taking shape also!

Still debating the new liebherr crane, but lotta dollars!

Box 1 of 3 finished.

Seen this is coming soon.
Definitely getting this one. 1M long

You’ve got lots of fun ahead of you mate.
Sure some parts are repetitive like the windows and port holes on the sides but over all it’s a real quick build considering the parts count.
I got mine Friday arvo, spent a fair chunk of Saturday and all day Sunday on it. I was left with the last 4 bags which I finished off Monday arvo.
I tend to get lost in building Lego, I don’t notice the time flying bye and nekminute its 12AM

For those considering getting this set I’d recommend getting it. Not only for the fact it’s the biggest but the attention to detail is well worth it. The new crane in the other hand seems way over priced for the block count and I think it will be far more repetitive.
Now I have to get imaginative enough to build a nice display/setting for it. Until then it will live up high out of reach of the grand kids

The first box is the smallest.

I got carried away and miss taking pics of the middle section
This is the stern coming together, the biggest part of the build.

The only parts problem I had was these 2 blocks were packed incorrectly. I need the opposite blocks for it to work under the cargo hull doors circled.

Not a bad effort considering there’s 9090 individual blocks. I’ve had worse problems on smaller sets

It separates in to 3 pieces but once it’s all together locked in place it’s much sturdier than the Saturn V rocket.

Below is a 12 minute YouTube clip showing some of the details and an Easter egg buried in the hull

Get it, it looks awesome, can't wait to build it. I found a post on FB the other day where a bloke bought two of them to build the crane bigger and a bit closer to the longer jibbed version.

This is a link to the original real crane, which I found very interesting:

https://www.liebherr.com/en/aus/prod.../lr-13000.html

There's a diagram of the different jib configurations that would make for some fun experimenting.

It's been a while, so whilst I'm on holidays I've built a bit. The lower stern bit is only built on one side at this point.

I have a dilemma...

When I first saw the Lego Titanic I got an instant chubby and had a profuse drooling problem. Everytime since it continues 5o have the same effect on me. It combines some of my favourite loves.

Soooo..... Dad gave me $1000 for Christmas with the proviso I either buy a Titanic or a goog roller tool cabinet for all my tools.

I jumped straight online only to find the Titanic all out of stock and on back order with no ETA. I'd resigned myself to worrying about it later and the tool cabinet being the smarter choice.

But I'm at Brisbane airport seeing off my sister and nephews and we went for the obligatory look at the Lego shop... And there it was. They have one.

So that is my dilemma. Do I do the smart thing and buy the tool cabinet... Or do I let the inner child take over and walk out with a very expensive box of plastic.

For those who have bought one or drooled over one... It it worth the buy?

Whilst its a bit of money, i think its pretty good value with 9k parts.
Ive enjoyed it and i think its a good challenge also, ive buggered up a few bits and had to fix it.
Only thing is a lot of the detail you cant really see once its finished (i still have half of the last box to go)
But the detail you can see is incredible i think.
I only have a couple of creator sets as i prefer technic but i had to have the Titanic once it was released.

Also- its big, very big!

The way my life works and what we believe in is to buy the Titanic and someone will offer you a beaut tool cabinet shortly there after.

Which I as well think was my motivator in the end. Once I first saw it I knew I had to have it if I could. It's been a long time since I've played with Lego outside of helping my nephews with their ones, but it brings together a couple of long held passions of mine. Lego and Titanic.

As I said previously, its on backorder online with no ETA. The only available kits are from third party sellers (who obviously bought up all of Lego's stock pre-christmas) who are selling it a fair markup over RRP. So to find it sitting there at the airport would be considered serendipitous and a fate not to be trifled with.

It was meant to be I suppose. And I figure you only live once, take the chance when it presents itself.

Also following on from the case of serendipity, the tool cabinets I had my eye on at the local Trade Tools have fallen off special. They were only on special for $400 while stocks last and are now all gone. New ones are back to $650. But I was assured they are dropped to $400 at least once every quarter, so I will see them up for sale again soon.

Ahhh... **** me... Somehow the cabinets are back on special. They weren't on Thursday, but have appeared again... But I can't call them tomorrow to confirm.

Looks like it might be an expensive week.

My old man always tells me.
'Its only money' they still make it'

Congrats on the Titanic.
I wont say much but theres a tile in the build with some reference behind it.
One thing i will suggest, use the instructions online, because its so big id imagine its a pain. I never use the intructions in the box!

Pretty much done, need to build the engines now, i believe they just slide in also.
Bit of a poo moment joining the 2 stern bits together, it kinda fell apart. Partly builder error, partly it is a little flimsy. You wouldnt want to move it too often.
