Default Crossply drag tyres for

The front of my XB. What size tyre fits on 15*6" rims? What brand?

I'm debating on what I can spent my tax $ on and prioritising.

Are you still after a street tyre? I use Mickey Thompson Sportsman fronts they're a tubeless crossply they're not brilliant handlers but I can still drive to the track race & drive home without touching them but as good as anything else I've had that skinny.
They have the choice of 4 ply or 8 ply depending on weight. They come in 4 sizes all of which would fit on your wheels but I guess the 26X8.50-15 would be the best if you still want a bit of grip.

Doesn't have to be exactly legal. Something that'll go on the rim and no be too narrow is what I'm after. So I guess anything from 6->8". In future I plan to use the 15" stockies as drag only wheels. I'm going to get the rears widened and put the 16's back to street duties.

I'll look into $ figures for them. Thanks for your help.

The cheapest place I've found for them is American Autos in Homebush Sydney by a long shot over Superplus or VPW etc they're part of Rare Spares so I'd give a Vic one of them a call

Problem is any saving's I get from buying out of state is eaten in postage. Anything bought in Vic I can pickup for around $5-$10 in petrol.

Why don't you get drag radials and fit radial tyres on front???
Hoosier sell radial tyres at reasonable price...

Three reasons

* I've had drag slicks for years (just can't kill them).
* drag radials don't work as well as a slick unfortunately.
* radial sidewalls hurt parts when using a transbrake.

By hurting parts I mean tailshaft, diff, axles. I've tried the transbrake on radials, it hits way too hard :( Even with a small stall. I'd hate to think what it's like with a big stall.

The soft sidewall of slicks buckle making the hit softer but they slingshot you out of the hole on the rebound
