Well... it had to happen. My clutch pedal return spring broke this morning. I swear it sounded like a plate hitting the deck and smashing to a billion pieces.
Anyway. Does anyone know how much I'm up for to get a replacement. Should be simple enough to install myself right? Also, does anyone know if a Mazda part will fit? People tell me that Mazda parts are the same and cheaper! Thanks!

Its a total Pain to fit, got the scars to prove it! the spring is strong and there is little room to move even after removing part of the dash.
the spring is cheap.around $20. I think i paid $15 including frieght but thats trade. included another spring that helps push the pedal, but i left it out cause ours never came with it and the clutch is light any way. let the ford blokes skin themselves lol

How much would it cost to let them fit it? I don't want to have to pay 100 bucks just to fit a bloody spring!

According to the SRT the scheduled time for replacement is 1.2 hours.

Mine busted a year ago, still haven't replaced it. The clutch is slightly lighter without it but after a week you wont notice.
Only thing is you may need to pull the pedal up ever few months to give the hydraulics a full stoke again. Just leave it and save yourself some cash. |

You could also find a place that sells springs and get one of similar size but lighter.
would make it much easier to fit. I also left ours off for about a 6 months I will probably break again in a year or so.

Well, I bought the spring this morning and it cost me $8. That's pretty cheap. Was expecting it to be about 20.
Just tried to fit it. And... I can't figure out where it hooks into on the firewall side. I'm stumped. If anyone can help, I would appreciate a photo of the spring and where it goes.

I had the same problem with mine about a month ago.
I took it to the Peter Warren Ford dealer in Sydney and they quoted me $30 for the spring and labor, the guy said it's no big deal pop they'll just pop it in and it'll be right. 4 hours later i gave them a call to see how it was going and they said they're still working on it. Another hour had past and they called me up to say it was ready oh and by the way it's $150 |

Thanks for the photo. I have an idea where it goes now. I just have to find some time with my mate to get it done. I have an idea how it might be easier to install.
