Default V8 5.0 What fuel....?

Hey guys,
Most know i'm doing a V8 conversion by now..

Just one quick question what fuel are you guys using in the V8's..?

91, 95 or 98ron....?

Also, the engine i'm putting in is a stock 200kw Tickford engine, if that makes any difference..

Thanks in advance!!

I'd be running 98 in it then getting it tuned for 98.

If it's a AU 200KW motor you have to use Premium unleaded so 95+, I use BP Ulitimate as I have had very good economy and performance from it, never had a bad run yet, touch wood.

ok so as you guys can probably tell, i'm used to diesel and LPG.. only used 95 in the lane, and not a whole lot of it...
I run the missus peugeot on 95 as i found it runs best on that..

Out of all the big major servo's what are everybody's thought on their fuel quality..
or, is it all about the same...?

Find a good servo that you trust and people have not had a problem with, as I don't believe it's the fuel as such that cause the problem's, more so the servo, in other word's not cleaning enough.

Everyone says BP's the best, I use Caltex Vortex because I've got a Fuel Card, I fill up at the Servo between Pakenham & Nar Nar Goon, never had a problem.

Mate I use any 98 I come across, as long as it is a busy servo it's all good. My 220 is happy on anything from V Power to 98 Premium from United.

I ran my XR8 on 95 and then BP 98 when it came to Tas. I only run the TS on BP 98. Just beaware of what fuel you have in the car if your going to flash tune it, once its tuned you can always go up in octane rating, but never go down. But if your going to leave it stock the 200kw motor will be fine on 95 or 98, i even ran mine on 91 with an octane boost, but that was cauz i got caught out.Bloody servo was out of 95 :(

Vortex or Vortex plus would be the fuel of choice for the 200kw engine.

The T1 and 3 both have 'use premium 95 only' placards inside the filler cavity so you'll need that as a minimum. For the record, like most here, I use BP Ultimate in everything. Even the mower.

Sounds good Rob, better fuel = more power = faster to cut the lawn, which in turn = more time to drink

I think I must be the exception to the rule then - I used to use 95 in my old XR8 and chucking 98 in the tank made no real noticable gain in either performance or economy.

There was a heavy right foot involved with that car though so that might explain why.

Personally if you are going down the tune route, tune it on 95 because as has been said, once tuned you can always go up - not down.

TBH Aust i couldnt really care for economy at all i couldnt even tell you what i can get from a full tank around town or even on a long trip, only the L/100 due to having a trip computer. There isnt really even any gain in HP IMO i only use it as, well ive always used it i guess. That and the old wheeza pings a bit on 95

Another here for not caring about economy. I bought a V8 to enjoy, not to worry about fuel economy!

For the record I use mobil 98, because it used to be the closest servo to my home, now I just go there as its where I'm used too.

Most definitely - anybody who buys a V8 for economy purposes is nuts. Mine ever pinged, even with the Unicrap.

Mobile 98 and BP ultimate are the same. I've run both through our race motor (13.5 compression) and timing and power wise there was no difference.

Mobile is my preference though. Ran ultimate in my ute for over a month and it really really didn't like it.

Cheers
