the only difference is the tickford logo on the front even the valves are the same size

He expects to be shipping around the end of January for non-VCT kits. If he doesn't have a HP tune by then you'll probably have to take it to Blacktrack in Thornton for a custom tune. A couple of months ago they were booked up 3 weeks ahead.

I was going to change over to SVI as well, but now I hear that liquid phase injection kits will be commercially available as early as Feb (in Melbourne anyway). I might just upgrade my converter to the big Landi Renzo unit (like TurboTaxi's, all of $180) in the short term until I can get LPI locally. BTW I stumbled across a local workshop doing Landi Renzo kits, ENJ I think it's called, right across the road from Wickham Spares.

OK thanks Brett. ATM I've put fitting the HP cam and PCM on hold. Not much benefit there with force-feeding with a gas mixer in the way LOL. When I can clarify whether to go SVI or LPI, I might see if SS Inductions have any of their AU throttle bodies still gathering dust...

Probably not that much of a bargain...$400 new & unused. They were between $600 and $700 when SSI were making them... they stopped some time ago as they didn't make much difference in NA engines & couldn't be made cheaper.

If interested, the seller's store is http://stores.ebay.com.au/Online-Performance-Autos

I was going to buy that throttle body a while back, but someone on this forum or fordmods said i would actually be LOSING power?

So, if i went the SC route, this would be worthwhile?

I'm going to try it & see. I have a gas mixer ring in my current TB, it doesn't look like it'll come out easily, so I was going to change TB's anyway when I go LPG injection.

In theory going from the stock 74mm butterfly to SSI's 78mm gives an extra 11% cross-sectional area, reducing the pressure loss through the TB. So at full throttle there should be a bit more manifold pressure for any given level of compressor pressure.

I know when I asked SSI about it 4 years ago, they as good as said I was wasting my money putting one on a NA AU. Different story though if I had an XR6T.

Last I heard Tim was working on the non-VCT kit, tweaking it for extra power now he has his own ute to play with... he can be a bit more aggressive than on a customer car to find the limits then back off for reliability. Tim's ute apparently is the base 6. Another forum member has volunteered his XR6 to be used to do the HP tune, so Tim will have all the AU I6's covered. ATM I'd expect to hear more in early February and I'm deliberately not emailing Tim in the meantime so he has more workshop time. There may also be a NSW distributor appointed in the next few weeks, after he has a chance to go up & see Tim's gear in action. Again I wouldn't expect this to happen until some time in February.

The suspense is painful, but good things come to those who wait for them LOL!

i have been looking into these kits to am really interested in it but am still unsure if i wanna turbo my ute or suppercharge it. The email i got back from tim stated that the kit was gonna cost $5200 with everything on website. He also said that the starting power figures would be around 200kw at the wheels but i am looking for around 250rwkw so what else would u have to do to get up to the power figures i want

Along with an intercooler, 3" exhorst, mild head work and a cam, I'd say 250 at the treads would be a given.

Didn't realise you had a vct. The injectors come with the kit, with the intercooler have a look into water to air coolers, they keep it cooler (if setup right)and have a lower psi drop accross them.

Maybe a custom grind? An easy upgrade for pushrod motors is higher-ratio rockers. AFAIK that's not an option for the I6 but you would get the same result with a higher-lift regrind of the stock cam.

Would this still be considered a "bargain" unit at $5,200?

Including injectors and a tuner, it seems like a good deal. It would be interesting to know what the kit would be worth less these items.

Might be a good idea to start a new thread with that offer, perhaps firm it up with details such as which head unit, what you plan to include... and see what interest there is. I'm cursing you didn't throw the gauntlet down a few days ago... I passed up the opportunity to buy a Novi 1000 for $1800 the other day because I couldn't organise a bracket in the seller's time frame. If the chance comes up again maybe we should talk.
