Got my car back from the mechanics today (needed new clutch), noticed its idling a bit high about 1100rpm, tried the obvious to get it down to about 800, and it wouldnt drop.
Is there any trick to the v6? what am i missing? |

taking the gearbox out and changing a clutch
they shouldn't have touched the idle to do that work if that is an EFI wonder if the Throttle position sensor isnt out or the air meter the idle adjustment screw should have done the job timing ? to hard to diagnose without more information best take it back to the mechanic that did the clutch

two questions
where is the Throttle position sensor located & where is the air meter sensor located? I have spoken to the mechanic and hes fine for me to take it back, problem is with work and family functions i wont have the chance untill monday, will this cause any damage? |

no wont do any damage just use up fuel a bit
Have you slackened off the throttle cable ? I still dont know why the idle adjustment screw isnt working I will send you a picture of the engine see if it is of any help to you two questions -both need a volt meter to check if it is working Throttle position sensor - on the throttle body with wires air meter sensor located-inside the air filter usually wait till the mechanic looks at it on monday

mechanic is looking at it 2morrow, so ill update this thread.
Only thing i can think off is the cat converter had to be replaced because the other one was in pretty poor condition, perhaps the sensor wasnt hooked back up? Will have a little fiddle with it 2morrow morning but ill probrobly just leave it to the pro's

undo the battery terminals for 10 minutes then reconnect
that resets the computers if it still revs high then something needs to be checked or replaced I would have renewed the 0xygen sensor if they did the cat convertor
