My son has a KF laser GL - I have seen some alloys to suit up to KE (14 inch) - will thy also fit KF? Or is there a better place to buy some secondhand alloys for his car?

No, KE and KF have different patterns. You want a stud pattern of 4x100 (whereas the KE has 4x114.3).
It all depends on how much you want to spend. Give Ebay a go for second hand rims. It's where I got mine, and they're a rare breed! Got them $1100 cheaper than i've seen anywhere else. (see my avatar for a pic of the wheels.)
