Default opera(?) window insulation

the little windows behind the ute doors.
My previous ute had a load of sound deadening all through the cabin and after buying this new one same thing needs to happen.
That poxy window was always the bug. Dont know if it was the rubber seal or the glass, so my thinking is remove everything, run a thin bead of silicone around the edge of metal gap, refit rubber, clean up any mess then instead of glass being refitted a thick piece of acrylic/perspex

good or bad?
