Noticed driving up the freeway this morning, Canola crops already starting to flower. First signs of spring.

Keep an eye out for canola blossom honey later in the season. It tastes quite different and is worth a try.

I'll have to ask the farmer who I'm working for about that.
Its a great crop for them as he can do a 1st cut high for the seed and a later 2nd cut low down for dairy farm feed lots. This effectively giving them 2 incomes from one crop.

Taking my FGX XR8 for a drive on Sunday afternoon with sunny 20 degree temp.

Was water blasting brickwork and decided after 2.5 wet hours I needed a break.

Not having driven my FGX XR8 for 3 weeks, decided to take it for a "country -ish" run.

Over the following 50 minutes I gave it a good Italian Tune and came with a grin like a cat that got the cream.

Yeah- may not handle on tight corners but on the right roads WOT it still has it....

Hi guys,
I had a fantastic day yesterday. As a lot of you will know I own an MC Ford Mondeo petrol engine Hatchback and its due for Rego in two weeks.

When my wife and I bought it back in 2012 we used to take it to a Mechanic and he would service it and really look after it and was just a very straight forward guy who did a great job.

Now because I lost my job due to the Corona Virus at the moment I don't have cash to spare. I went to the Ford Dealer and asked "how much a Rego Check and a Transmission service would cost'?

I was told "between 500 and 600 hundred dollars". I went back home and phoned our Mechanic who is in Sydney and he told me $310.00.
I drove up there yesterday got the job done. My Mondeo has just clicked over 339,000Km ( yes I know its a lot) and most of it is Highway Driving not stop start driving.

I picked it up and the Mechanic said to me " mate its got some ks on it now but I cant get over how good it still goes and its very smooth still".
He said " with that many ks on it you wouldn't get much for it so you might as well keep it"

Which I was going to do any way and why would I sell it. All these years ive had it ive put New Rotors and brake Pads, had Two Battery's, Engine mount and a water pump.

6 weekly blood tests for docs, and my regular nurse was safe, though a little stressed. Little victories.

Did some i suppose you could call wood working today. Measure and cut sort of stuff. The trusty old black and decker workmate 200 portable workbench, the 30 odd year old particle board bench tops were shot. My grandpa passed that down to me years ago and it sat in my car hold for years as i had no use. But i did find a use a few years back and it has been well used. So clamping firewood to cut it.
But the tops were shot. So the 20mm thick, 150mm wide, 900mm long particle board tops i replaced with 40mm thick, 200mm wide, 1200mm long boards of treated pine. I did need to cut out 2 150mm x 70mm notches for the clamp handles. And it does need a bit more of a sand as the paper on my electric sander i need more of. But deffinately got a new lease on life. And i only had to cut once. But i am pretty good at eyeing things off and then measuring. Its a bit heavier then before so maybe not as portable. But with both ends wound together it goes from a vice to a usable bench top 400 wide and 1200 long.

Yeah I reckon I would be interested.Dunno about 1/24 might be a bit too fiddly, but 1/16 or thereabouts would be easier. At 1/16 would finish up with a model around 25-30cm with plenty of detail

I was still sort of irritated/concerned about life stuff. So i dug around the car hold, yet found more sand paper in the spare room in my house. Sheets of 60 and 80 grit. But thats fine. Todays project of the working work bench, its function over form. So doesnt have to be pretty iff it works.
My sander is old as. Its not a belt sander or an orbital. Its one of the ones that vibrates and sands. Its not noisy, so i just cut the paper to size and got back to sanding. Its, atleast to myself, really relaxing. Making things even and stuff. Its never going to be great, but its a work bench. Its wood i had around the house, im not complaining about buying **** wood. I did give it a test run clamping fire wood and chopping it before round 2 of sanding. It does work well.

Nice work on the Pete. A 359 would be a bit odd with Aussie bits on considering we never really imported them here, most landed here with Alcoa's and gullwing bumpers. Did you try Auslowe for Aussie custom bits.

That's not to say I haven't seen them around.

This is my foray into model building. '48 Ford F100

SWMBO has a newish laser cutter and this was my birthday present. over 200 pieces and around 400mm long when finished.
Still deciding as to leave raw or paint...if latter what colour.
When Christmas arrives I think a '56 F100 will join the ranks.

Very nice. You sure that's a 359 and not a later 379, ex hood and square headlights give it away.
What's the air cleaner housing look like.

The XR8 was loving the cold air this morning. Exhaust sounds noticeably fruitier with a bit more burble on the over run. Not running the car particularly hard, just enjoying the mid range shove and giving the gearbox and clutch a good workout with some gentle healing and toeing. Was a good run!

Well, making a workbench pretty is kind of pointless, plus its been raining so i wasnt going to drag an extention cord out the back just to keep sanding. But its looking not too bad with the new tops. Got myself more fire wood and the reconditioned work bench works really well. Cannot complain.
