Default Wheelchairs on the road

Why do people drive ther electric wheelchairs on the road? I don't mean small 50km/h residential zones either, I constantly see people driving electric wheelchairs in busy 60km/h main roads its insane.

yeah stupid old people. But we have to blame the council in no small part for not providing footpaths.

As far as I'm concerned, it has as much right to be there as a bicyclist, with a slower top speed. Sure it's a nuisance, but better it be on the road with other vehicles...

People who ride bikes are usually younger, fitter, and slightly more with it. ie you dont have to watch out for when they are going to do something really stupid without even realising you are there. I've seen a few of these ol' geezers getting around on those wheel chairs, and they worry me with their random turning and being seemingly oblivious to all other road users.

Actually i was driving up a street the other day and there was this old woman on one of them coming down the opposite way in the other lane... and she just sorta turned a bit and crossed into my lane heading straight for my car!!! : so to avoid a head on collision i had to swerve into a bunch of parallel parking bays! (and thank god they were free!!) Like she was trying to commit suicide or something! :

Scared the HELL outta me anyway. Not that they're all like that. it would be safer i think for them to take the footpaths...

If there registered there entitled to drive on the road,as against pushbikes which are'nt registered.
I would rather slow down for a motorised scooter(which is what there called than a pushbike) as far as I'm concerned pushbike riders are the biggest hazard on the road....they don't pay rego and think they own the road.
Which is why I have nudge bar...look out pushies I'm after you.

Yeah and were meant to give way to cyclists when we pay to be on the road. And they dont ride on the side either they ride almost entirely onto the road. Its dangerous and if i hit one as far as im concerned its their fault although it would feel terrible.

They should use the paths people walking can simply step off the path when a bike is comming through. Its all that simple. I personally cant see how anyone could ride on the road in traffic and feel safe. i couldnt do it.

And when i did ride on the road when i was young, i rode coming towards traffic so i could see where the cars were and would move off the road when a car was comming.

I dont know how old people have the balls to drive their wheelchairs on the road either. Car VS wheelchair well we all know whod come off second best.

We have a local oldie who frequents on the 70-80km/h roads, drives it like a car but sometimes he pulls out into traffic, seen him about 3 times on the same road, I really think he wants to die.
