fuel filler Au ute

well ive had my new/old AU ute for about 3 mths and the fuel filler is really starting to give me the sh.t's it would have to take at least 5-10mins to fill the thing from empty.

is this a common problem if so is there a way to fix it. i thought my old hilux was bad but this would have to be the worst filler i have ever come across.

nah not the servos. have tried about 8 different ones and still the same issue. basically when u pull the trigger it clicks off straight away. have to fill it real slow. giving me the sh.ts going to pull it out and see.

Try not to shove it all the way in, pull it out 15-20 mm, should work a treat.
The fuel bowser im talking about.

This is what the guy at the servo said to me, he works on the pumps also..

Mines the same from new. If you put it in all the way she protests but pull it back out around an inch or a bit more and she's no worries and you can squeeze her as hard as you like then but with it in all the way it clicks off within seconds.

none of those things work. have tried everything im starting to think there might be a blockage in the filler. i have pulled it just about all the way out and it still does it. do the falcoons have a anti syphoon thing in it cause im thinking that might be the problem. really really gives me the shits.

I would pull the filler out and look. If you have tried all that people are saying it makes me wonder if it had a locking fuel cap and someone lost the keys and smashed the lock but in the process dropped half of it down the filler tube and therefore blocked the tube some wat.

could be a blockage in the breather pipe. if it's crushed or blocked it won't vent the vapour and air back out of the tank as you are filling, therefore forcing it back up the filler neck and cutting the trigger out...does it make any difference if you rotate it 90º?

90deg dont do anything either, have even tried it upside down. did the utes have lockable filler caps from factory. the one on the ute is plastic and dont lock.

Don't think they came out factory. The lockable 1's are plastic as well. We get em at work all the time with no keys. We don't bust em but, we pic em.

What happens is that the entry flap on the filler breaks off and gets stuck in the filler pipe. Have a look inside your filler right where the pump nossle enters. In here you should see and flap that pushes back as you insert the nossle. If it is not there chances are that it has broken off and got stuck inside the filler pipe, causing restriction when trying to add petrol. I had this same problem. Straighten a coat hanger and put a small hook in one end. Then it is time to go fishing! You should be able to hook the damaged flap back to the top and then pull it out with a pair of long nose pliars. Good Luck!!!

you sir are a legend. went and had a look with the torch last night and sure enough its gone and the little flap is inside the filler. now i just have to work out how to get the mongrel out.
