Default 2nd hand Hi Stall Converter

I'm thinking about getting one, where would be the best place to get one from? A mate of mine said 2nd hand ones are fine.

Yeah but with everything 2nd hand you do take a risk, If the stall came out of perfectly good running transmission then fine, but if the auto had been blown up or even highly worn there is risk of dirt and contaments in the converter.

If i was going to purchase a 2nd hand converter that i hadn't seen the auto it came out of i'd have it sent off and cleaned by touque converter specialist, which i believe they charge $100 for.

Also known as a fake 5th gear, it also locks up in 3rd under certain conditions too.
