I's time to remove the engine and FMX from my coupe.

I want to remove as little as possible to achieve this.

I have removed the tail shaft, exhaust, passengers side extractors ( the drivers is a pain ) I am removing the Steering Box for a reco ( its a pain to get to ).

What are the secrets to remove the engine and box? remove the box first ( I have a hoist and tranny hoist ) so it will make it easier.

Hi Rohan,

Best to remove the motor and box together. Get a tailshaft yoke for the trans extension housing so tranny fluid doesn't go everywhere, undo the shifter, trans cooling lines, remove the radiator, drop the trans cross member, remove the starter motor and you should be pretty right. The steering box will be easier to remove once the motor is out.

The main hassle of removing the motor seperately from the trans is getting to the bell housing bolts and removing the torque converter from the drive plate.

Definately bonnet off. It will interfere with the engine hoist otherwise. Just place masking tape around where the hinges bolt on so the bonnet can be re-positioned perfectly when putting it back on.

Hi Rohan, as per Craig's post + If it has headers on it with collectors that bolt up, drop the Passenger side off leave drivers side on. Repeat process to install. DS are a pain to get off and on with the engine in.

Also I've found a engine lifting plate (bolts to carby bolts) makes the job a bit easier,picked mine up for $40 at autobahn.seen them on eBay as well, good luck

Don't forget Speedo cable and the earth strap from rh head to firewall. leave the steering box once engine and box is out.

I have most of the stuff out and ready for the bonnet off/engine out on

Saturday. Should only take 15 minutes to complete.
