Default What is this ? And how do i get one ?

Heya all

Have a look at the below pic please. I wanted to know what this is. (im referring to the thing on the roof - no smartass comments please)

How much are these to buy from ford (if they can still be bought)

How hard are they to fit them : (does it envolve screwing into the roof ?)

Currently my car only have the front bit with the 2 lights, and i would like to get one of these fitted. :

Thanks

Seen them on ebay before and they are standard fitment to the pursuit250. I keep my sunnies up in like its meant but an enterprising person couls fit an lcd screen then it just folds down and away you go.

My XLS ute had it from factory ... I'd say the XRs had them as well in the sedans too.

i'm pretty sure they screw in from the top, above the roof lining, so you have to pull it out, or at least part of it

I was going to put one in my car, you can get them for around 40 bucks from the wreckers, but apparently it's a PITA to fit, since as stated above you have to pull out the roof lining to install it. It's certainly do-able though if you can be bothered!

They are standard fitment on All AUIIs/AUIIIs. It is a sunglasses holder. It is fragile, prone to breaking and bloody useless. Don't bother. I'd prefer if my car just had the two little lights, BA style.

Interesting story

One of the cabbies, clever chap, is a night driver. He found that the two little lights werent bright enough. So he took one of the little inserts that just have the two little lights and switches, and took all of it apart and replaced it with a 21w reverse light bulb and a different rocker switch. lights up the cab like daylight.

The last of the S3 AU's got the squarer BA one- that's what I have in my T3 from factory- they looks heaps better and are the perfect size for an LCD screen if you were that way inclined, but they are fine for your sunnies.........

My AU3 Futura doesn't have one, but it might be because I got the Police pack...

I rung Ford Spares cause I wanted one - $300 - I then didn't want a new one....
